Nature Notes ~ Signs of individual leaves on our leaf buds
Pretty much all of the leaf buds on our wild cherry branch are starting to green up now but a few of them are really moving along nicely.
In the above photo you can see that the lateral bud (a bud growing alongside the stem) is starting to show some individual leaf definition and not just one smooth green bud.
And on this photo you can see that on the right side of the bud one of the leaves is starting to separate from the rest! We are all getting excited to find out what happens next. We changed our sugar water again today since it was starting to show some little bits of mold floating on the top and placed it back on the windowsill. I'll wait now and update once we have a photo of an opened bud, just in case you are tiring of staring at our little buds *grin*
Very exciting. I am not so sure ours will get as far as yours. The sun has not been shinning much lately. I changed the water yesterday. I move it all day long to get the best sun advantage.
