The verdict is in. Our wild cherry branch is indeed full of blossoms! We have a lovely pink weeping cherry tree which I believe is a japanese ornamental version and it throws off suckers (new shoots) of the original tree that they grafted the ornamental cherry to at the base. Well this is one of the suckers that we left to grow because I just love the white blooms in spring time. I'm thinking that now I should have brought in lots of branches since it is going to have such a nice display in a couple of days :)
It's day 18 today and we had some bright warm sunshine streaming in the dining room window yesterday and today and I think that it was just what our branch needed! Today the blossoms are starting to pop open all over the branch.
It's hard to believe that those slender little buds were jam packed with such a wonderful surprise :)
