We are all super excited because while we were eating dinner tonight an American Robin ~ Turdus migratorius landed on the plant hanger right outside the window beside the table. It had a mouthful of grass and instantly we noticed that there was more inside the hanger! Apparently it has been working on it's nest for a little while because it is quite big already. Not very observant are we! It sat there for a couple of seconds and then flew off again, returned very slowly dropped the grass it was carrying and then retreated to a neighboring shrub to yell at us. Of course we really want the nest to be built because it would be awesome to be able to watch the young be born right outside the window so we quickly grabbed our dinner plates, turned out the light and left the room to eat in the family room on tv trays *grin* I hope that we haven't scared it away and the nest becomes abandoned. We may have to keep away from there for a bit to let her do her business!
UPDATE: If you want to find out how our Robin and her nest are doing make sure you read our latest entries on being under 24/7 mama Robin surveillance
and check out the beautiful little blue eggs she has laid! I've also added a button on my left sidebar that you can click anytime and go directly to all of the Robin entries :)
That happened to my Mother's Day hanging flower pot a few years ago, right by our front porch. It was so much fun! I'm glad you get to experience it too. I might have to come up with the old photos to put on my blog sometime.
