Mama Robin is done laying

Mama Robin has finished laying her eggs, she's sticking with three :) I stood on the clothesline stand outside this afternoon to try and get a photo of her in her nest without disturbing her by trying to take it through the window, but the plant hanger is quite deep so all you can see is her head poking out as she checked out what I was up to *grin* You can see her eyes and beak.

She has become accustomed to our movements past the window in the house and only checks out what is going on inside the kitchen if we get within a foot of the window which isn't very often since we try to go there only when we know she is off getting food. When she's in the nest her tail sticks up the side of the plant hanger making it clear she is there :)

How very exciting! We have been keeping tabs on this. Thanks for keeping us updated.

We "found" a robin's nest today at the park. It was VERY high up in a tree but we saw mom and dad hard at work going back and forth. And we saw her tail sticking out, very clearly, even 50 feet below.

We walked away from that area to go sketch some wild flowers and heard a comtion. There was a red-tail hawk bothering them. But mom and dad made a great chase as well as a few other birds. We weren't sure if it got anything though and he didn't come back.

How sweet.

We recently came across 5 eggs in our neighbors hanging porch basket. We are thinking its a House Finch or maybe a Chipping Sparrow. The eggs are light with small specks on one side, just like the House Finch description. We are all excited to see them hatch and fly away!

Have a blessed weekend!
