Tea Party

Today my mom and I were supposed to take Reed, my drama girl, to see a play (Pride and Prejudice).  They were having a high tea along with it.  I was planning to leave the 2 younger girls home, since they are not really old enough to care about the play.  So I curled her hair with hot rollers, and she put on a dress... and then her friends invited her to go swimming.  Which she loves.  And so I let her choose, hoping that she would choose me and Gram, but not wanting to manipulate her with guilt.  She opted to go swimming.  What's a girl to do?  So I invited Sydney.  She was happy to go, until she found out Spenser and Reed were going swimming,  then she shed a few tears when she dfound out she wasn't invited swimming.  Then Macy cried when she found out she wasn't invited to the tea party (it was $15 per person.)  But she had a fun day with Daddy-- they went out for ice cream and bought a cross bracelet at the Lifeway.

The play was absolutely fabulous!  It was so well done, and we had alot of fun.  Sydney seemed to really enjoy being the big girl at the tea party.  (She's 4.)  2 ladies from our church were there, and sat beside us.  Sydney had raspberry hot tea, which she enjoyed, along with the sandwiches and goodies.

This is Sydney with my mom:

What a cherished event for your little one. It is hard to get one on one time and constructive too. She looks so angelic with grandma.

So funny! Kids are just bolder then us....how many times have I sat through something when for the kids when I'd rather be "playing" with my friends as well!
