My Not-So Gallant Son

I was mortified recently at a church friend's birthday party for her little girl.

The little girl turned 3, and she has 2 older sisters who are very close to my son's age.  (He is 11.)  They have flirted with each other a little (in that innocent 11 year old way, nothing bad.)  So I was sitting there with a group of grandmas from church, and one of the older girls was trying to get into the house but her hands were full.  She asked for help, and my son immediately walked up to the door.  My heart swelled with pride as I thought "Chivalry is not dead-- look at my gallant knight going to help the damsel in distress."

So he goes to the door, opens it enough for himself to enter, slams it shut and turns around and laughs at her through the window.

With all of us watching.

I was embarassed to say the least!  They all thought it was a riot, but my motherly pride was shattered!
