My twenty cents keeps moving!

Deep Thoughts

  • Why did I sweep and mop the dining room floor before lunch?
  • Why are potato chips and popcorn magnetically attracted to my hardwood floor?
  • Why did my potty trained 3 year old wet her pants 2 days in a row?
  • Why did the same 3 year old pull out 25 movies and leave them on the floor while looking for The Iron Giant?
  • Why did I homeschool for 2 years without a single trip to the library?  (Am I banned from the homeschool mommy club for that one?)
  • Why do they have a limit of 20 kids' books on a library card?  That's only 5 books each :)
  • Why do they keep letting me check out more than 20? (not that I'm complaining)
  • Why did my 4 year old come home from a pizza buffet and immediately ask for a PB&J sandwich?
  • Why did I let my 8 year old read a book with a cute cover without reading it first or at least finding out what its about?  (I never do that!! But I let her read Ivy and Bean-- I chose it for her-- and now I find out one of them is an aspiring witch.  Argh!)
  • Why does my eleven year old son still have on the clothes he wore yesterday?
  • Why does he wear the same clothes over and over now that he is supposed to do his own laundry? (Hmmm..) ;)
  • Who are these children and why are they calling me mommy?

  • Why am I so tired?

I've had many of these questions myself! Incidentally, we took a long hiatus from the library as well--I just stocked up on books from the thrift store, to add to the couple thousand or so we had already, and decided it wasn't worth it to keep checking out books so they could get lost in our 3500 sq ft house--and our library has NO limits on books checked out--altogehter we must owe about $100 in fines! No, this is one mommy who will not kick you out of the club!

At least many of the things!

About the library thing - I can completely sympathize. I want them to have a larger selection and I am idealistic enough to expect that there are some decent books in the 5,000 or so at our library. Unfortunately, like the magnets in the floor, there seem to be magnets in my girls hands. They just automatically pick out the books about witches, or aliens, or disrespectful characters, etc. Lately I have decided that I will only take them when we are vacationing (June and December). I am going to take them when we aren't doing so much structured school and I can spend more time really looking at the books they get before we leave. The rest of the time, I am going to look things up on my internet account and go in armed with the list and no children! I will be like the book mobile! I will bring it home for them! :)

I hope you are more rested today! One pound down! Yeah! Alpheus is taking me out to dinner tonight though. Olive Garden. I am definitely splurging and having pasta and bread but not too much of it!
How about you?
In Him, Eva
