Since we are talking about crayons-- WFMW

Since crayons seem to be the topic de jour (see here and here) I thought I would give you a handwriting tip that uses those little pieces of leftover crayons.
If your preschooler is having trouble holding the pencil correctly, one way to help is to give them the short, broken crayons. They have to use the correct grip (pinching between the thumb and index finger) to write with pieces that small.
I am trying to teach this to my 3 year old who grips the pencil/crayon/marker in her fist. She does ok that way--she can write her name-- but I figure it makes it harder to learn neatness later.

Great tip! Thanks for sharing. I hold my pencils in a weird way, even now. I guess I wasn't corrected enough as a child. :)
I’ve posted a WFMW tip as well, involving an alternate use for a pot rack. Stop by and take a peek. :)

Lots of fun stuff to read on your blog! I added you to my list of friends so I can visit again. Also, we're Gymboree fanatics, too! That Cute As a Button line was to die for! I'm waiting for the weather here to turn, and then dd is due for a major cool-weather shopping spree. :o)

I need to remember that! For my 5yo who I am teaching to write her letters correctly and for my 7yo who really needs help with her handwriting.
I see you are a fellow MFWK user. I've just started through it for the 2nd time now and started Adventures in MFW for my oldest.
