Everyday Things

My "everyday thing" that I am grateful for is the library.  (More of an every week thing, but still...)

I homeschooled for 2 years without ever visiting the library *gasp*.   The librarian ticked me off plus I always owed fines, and I am generally disorganized so I was afraid to check books out and bring them into the chaos that is our life LOL.  But I decided to give it a whirl and have a system (which basically consists of a box in the living room where library books belong.  Not foolproof, but so far so good.  (Although I may have thrown away a Magic School Bus video this week, but I digress...)

I am so glad we started going back to the library.  Partly because I could never afford Reed's "habit."  (She reads 8-10 books a week, especially Boxcar Children pictured above.)  Partly because Spenser picks books that I wouldn't think to buy him (World record-type books, I Spy books, etc.) They also love audiobooks, and the library has hundreds (and a few of them are ones I will actually let my kids hear LOL) And who knew that there were a few more No David books available (we only have the first 2.)

And for all the other reasons that make the library such a great resource for homeschool all  families, it is my choice for this week's everyday thing!

Great! I love all your reasons and I love the library. We even have a gerbil in ours.

I love the library, too, except that I am always late at returning books. Sigh....

What a great "plug" for our local libraries. Thanks!

The library has been crucial to our survival as homeschoolers. My oldest was a bookworm, and the librarians enjoyed her interest in books so much that they asked her to advise them on what to buy, which is how our library ended up with so many Christian children's book series. And now dd works in a bookstore so she can feed her addiction :)

Yes...the library is a good thing to be grateful for. My area has a great system. I do my shopping on-line and they pull and hold for me! I suspect it's pretty common, but I think it's uncommonly awesome!
