They grow so fast

Before you were conceived I wanted you

Before you were born I loved you
Before you were here an hour I would die for you
This is the miracle of life.

~Maureen Hawkins

The time has come to sort all the fall clothes and see who needs what and what needs to be sold on ebay, passed to the  next child or donated to Goodwill.  Sounds simple enough, but oh my! There are a lot of clothes.

We were sorting boxes tonight and when I saw all the little size 2t clothes that Sydney and Macy both wore and now fit no one, I teared up a little.  Silly I know, but I can picture them both in the Fat Bear Wear pumpkin dress at the pumpkin patch, or in their matching Gymboree falling cherries dresses with the adorable matching tights.  *weep*

We had science lab today, and it wore me out.  The kids don't seem to realize that playing together and having fun is a byproduct of science lab, not the main goal.  They act as though all of our experiments and activities are interrupting their play time.  Then I was really aggravated when it took my 25 minutes to load 5 kids in my van, and we were consequently late bringing Tristan back to meet his grandma.  Grr.  I shouldn't have to chase everyone down twice.

That being said, we had a good time dissecting flower and fruits and vegetables.  The lilies were the best-- we could easily see the stigma and the anthers and all the flower parts we were supposed to label.  I hope they learned a little something and that it didn't interfere too much with their lightsaber duals LOL.  We also planted some flower seeds in little pots.  I think we are finally through with Kingdom  Plantae and will be moving on to Kingdom Animalia next week.

Tomorrow we are headed to a field trip at Cici's.  We get to make pizza (and then eat it!)  Tristan and Haley are both going with us, so it should be interesting.  Luckily Jason is off so he can go along and help corral kids.

We have the same problem at our coop days. The kids love to play and wrestle around so much that they forget they're there to learn! Imagine having a room full of all 8 year olds like in the public schools! It would be hard to get anything accomplished!

Did you have a good time on your field trip today? We went on one too, and it was wonderful. I wrote a post about it today, and posted a bunch of pictures. You'll have to check it out. Hope you're doing well, and that you have a great weekend...

Love, Kathy

Wondering who set up the Cici's learning trip? We have one near us. I would love to do this for a homeschool trip. Did you just call and set this up?

Mary is wearing 4T and 5T now. We give all of the clothes to two friends. It is hard to let it go and hard to see it on their children at church. It makes me teary eyed too!

I am not doing well on the Atkins now. I have been really struggling again! I am praying for you too! I hate to get out my fall/winter clothes that I had hoped would be too big now and see that I really haven't gotten anywhere!

:) And yet the rest of my life is going really wonderfully!
