Fun Lunch Today

One of my birthday presents was a cooking class from my sweet husband.  Before you get insulted on my behalf, no, it's not like that.  Cooking is one of the few things in life I am not insecure about.  I love love love cooking, especially Thanksgiving and this was a Lunch and Learn-- we got recipes and instructions and then got to eat this amazing Thanksgiving meal.  It was soooo fun.

We had
Brined Turkey with Herbed Butter
Garlic Mashed Potatoes (made with half and half not milk, mmmm!)
Carrot Ring with Peas (odd cakelike thing that was actually pretty good, but weird)
Roasted Pears with Blue Cheese and Walnuts
Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

and, of course, Sweet Tea.  This is Georgia, after all, and it's the law!

My friend Laura went with me (my thoughtful husband reserved 2 spots-- I am sure he knew I would not want to go alone.)   We had fun being together and afterwards had a long heart to heart talk like we haven't had time for in ages.   It is hard when there are always kids around.  We started journaling together and it has really helped renew our friendship.
