I received an email this week that included this game, so I thought I would share it. It was hilarious to play with a 3 and 5 year old.
While one leaves the room, the others agree upon a word, such as the, you, yes, or, no, or any of the small words that do not contain more than four letters. When the person is re-admitted, she asks a question of each one, and the chosen word must be given by all in their answers. Suppose the word 'and' is selected, and the question should be this: "Do you think we shall have snow today?" "I hope so, for I love to see it snow, 'and' I am very fond of snowballs." Then to the next one she might ask: "You are fond of snowballs also?" "Yes, when there is a large party of us 'and' they are all very merry." The questioner will notice that there are three little words in the last answer, 'and,' 'of' and 'very,' that are in the first; therefore, in the next answer, she must remember which one of these three words is repeated again; so in this manner she will soon be able to find the right word; but if unable to guess it, she must leave the room again while another word is chosen. The player by means of whose answer the word is guessed must be the next to withdraw, while the others fix upon a word to be guessed as before. My 3 and 5 year old would guess things like "cereal" and "pudding" even if none of us had said anything remotely connected to those words. But then we would say things like: I wonder what the word could BE? What do you think it could BE?" and they would get it. Here's a neat website I found if you are interested in astronomy: I think we will do astronomy soon, maybe when we finish biology. Finally, a movie review: We went to see Night at the Museum last night along with my aunt and her husband and 5 of their 6 kids. I really liked it. It was scary for the younger kids, so I would say maybe 7 or 8 and older would enjoy it. My 3 year old slept through it, and my 5 year old got scared at a couple of parts. She didn't want the dad in the movie to take his son to the museum, lol. She said it was just for grownups. At the end, she liked it, but it did have a few jump moments. Also, there are a couple of evolutionary references that you will have to talk about. But it was a fun movie with good messages overall about perserverance and getting along. We saw Charlotte's Web aso this week and it was terrific. Some movie. Radiant, even. |
