WFMW Car Edition
Posted in WFMW
Shannon is hosting a special edition of WFMW, focusing on the car and all of our great tips for in the car.
Here are a few from me:
- I keep a few things in the glove compartment that you wouldn't expect: scotch tape (like Shannon-- cause you don't know how many times I have had to buy it when I bought a present on the way to a birthday party) a hairbrush ('cause someone invariably forgets they have hair when they are getting ready for church); toddler underwe@r ('cause you just never know what might happen.)
- We play the alphabet game on long trips-- you just look for the letters of the alphabet in order (no skipping the hard ones like Q and Z.) No supplies needed, and it's a cooperative effort so no one wins (and more importantly, no one loses.)
- We try to rotate where the kids sit in the van. We aren't extremely consistent, but we do it enough to give the kids a sense of variety and fairness, LOL.
- Never underestimate the power of Elmo. We have this Sesame Street Alphabet cd, and it is an instant mood brightener. Squabbles cease, hurt feelings are soothed, and anger dissipates as soon as he says "Abb-kuh-deff-gee-jeckel-muh-nopp-kwer-stoov-wix-iz"

The alphabet game was a favorite for us too! We didn't skip the hard letters, but we were able to get them out of order because they were so hard to find.
Great ideas!

Stopped by for your WFMW tips (great btw!) and saw your homeschool curricula list. We're also a Mystery of History homeschool family! I don't meet many others, so that was nice to see! Thanks for the car tips today. :)
