School Stuff

I definitely have spring fever and am ready for school to be over!  The kids have finished some of their subjects for the year.  We finished CKEB today except for one more lab; they finished their math books in the last couple of weeks and we are working on next year's book (Barbara Frank says don't do this, but my weird kids like math--so do I-- and I like to be ahead for the next year.  They begged to start next year's book.)

  Still trying to finish MOH-- we got behind and so I am trying to double up when I can.  We may just read it throughout the summer so we can start MOH2 in the fall.  For Language Arts, I started Julius Caesar with Spenser (which we both love), and Reed is finishing her LLATL book.  I may give her a book study to do because she likes those.  I bought the 6th grade version of Julius Caesar but we are reading the original.  Mainly because

There is a tide in the business of men,
Which if it's jumped into at the high point, leads on to success;
If it is missed, the whole journey of their life
Is stuck in shallows and in unhappiness.
We are now floating on a high tide like that,
And we must take the current when it is ready,
Or lose our investments.

just doesn't have the same sound as:

“There is a tide in the affairs of men,

Which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune.

 Omitted, all the voyage of their life

is bound in shallows and in miseries.

On such a full sea are we now afloat.

And we must take the current when it serves,

or lose our ventures.”

So we read the hard version with lots of interpretation by mom and then read a summary online in case mom missed something.  :)

I'm thinking you have some incredibly smart kiddos! I tried yesterday to leave you a message on your post before this one, but couldn't get on. I did today. :)
