• Aug. 18, 2008 - Awesome Waves
Taking a pause from my usual poetry posts, I need to reflect on the awesome works of God. I 'm currently vacationing in the most tropical place in America, Hawaii. I'm from the desert, so this whole experience is jaw-dropping. The numbers of people here, the shops and markets, the fruit-----wonderous! But the most amazing thing I have found here are the waves!
In many of my poems I have compared God to the ocean, but never before have I seen the sea. I DIDN'T FULLY KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT! Yes I admit it, I was totally oblivious to the power and might of the sea.
David too talked about the sea in his Psalms. I have no idea if he ever saw the ocean first hand, but nevertheless the amount of times he referres to it is mind-boggleing. I chalenge anyone who wants to, to go through Psalms 90-100 and count the times the ocean, the sea or the waves/waters are mentioned. Then comment me!
Please remember that God's creation is so much bigger than just your hometown. I learned that this month. HE IS SO CREATIVE! Our God shows His might through His works! I love Him all the more for it! When I'm in the ocean, being tossed about, I think what a Perfect God I have!
In our travels here in Oahu, we went to The Valley of The Temples, where we toured a Japenese Temple. A huge golden Buddah sat in the middle of the place. He was big AND intemidating. But the ocean is so much more so! Imagine-if God can create the ocean-with billions of fish, coral and plants, than He Himself must be even more Grand and Powerful! A stupid idol can't even move-could it create a drop of water...no! Our God is alive and working! If you've ever seen the waters our Lord has made, then you know what I'm talking about!
Love you all-God Bless you

• Aug. 10, 2008 - Hang'n On
Hang'n On
By Lexi
Hang'n on to Jesus,
When the times are tough,
Hang'n on to Jesus,
When the way gets rough,
Hang'n on to Jesus,
When He's the only rope,
Hang'n on to Jesus
'Cause He's our only hope,
Hang'n on to Jesus,
'Cause only He can save,
Hang'n on to Jesus,
When no longer we feel brave,
Hang'n on to Jesus,
When down below waits death,
Hang'n on to Jesus,
With our final breathe!
I pray everyone who reads this will be reminded that our Saviour loves them so deeply, and is like a thick rope, that stretches so long you can grasp it no matter how far away from God you are. The number one thing that draws me to the Lord, is that He is a friend. Foremost, Jesus is my buddy and I love him so much!
I had to trust God in a way I've never had to before. This summer, I was offered to tag along on a really cool trip. I said yes, thinking the people were going to pay for my plane ticket. Well...they weren't planning to! So, I had to come up with $630 in a matter of days! Let me tell you, it was HARD to trust God! But, He came through and I got the money! Now, I want you all to know that even if God didn't provide the money, He is still alive and working! Please take a moment and imagine God reaching down with a hug for you. Now return it! Believe Jesus is your rope! He certainly is mine!
God Bless
~Lexi

• Jul. 20, 2008 - A Prayer
God may I live to speak your Word,
May that Truth radiate from my lips.
God May you know that I love your laws,
May I acknowledge that they are wise.
Purify me, so I may live.
Help me up, so I may walk.

• Jun. 7, 2008 - God... I want to!
God I want to meditate on your mountain-top.
The mountain-top brimming with your creation and majesty.
God I want to gather shells along your beach,
The beach scattered with shells I can store up in heaven.
God I want to be tried in your throne-room,
The throne-room abounding with compassion and mercy.
God I want to read in your library,
The library stocked with wisdom and knowledge.
God I want to wear your armor,
The armor fitted for protection and victory.
God I want to work alongside your people,
The people who understand your purpose and promise.
God I want to sing inside your tunnel,
The tunnel that can carry my song to you.
God I want to rest in your pastures,
The pastures without worry, fear or harm.
God, one day I want to dwell in your kingdom,
The Kingdom built for your Honor and your Glory.

• Jun. 2, 2008 - Our Faith : A Poem
Our Faith is as the mightiest of trees,
Who's roots have remained for centuries,
The roots were formed in Abram's time,
By will and power of our God Divine,
Grown solid and firm the branches preserve,
The body meant to teach and serve,
The leaves represent the leaders who,
Kept our faith and perservered thru,
Ages pass yet ever has remained,
The saving faith constant, unchanged.
I hope you all liked this poem. I was inspired by God. Please keep in mind throughout your day that God has build up a tree full of many wise Christians (leaves) and a sturdy body, the church (or branches) that we young believers (shoots and buds) can go to for help in our walk. Boy...is God good!

• May. 12, 2008 - You are : A testomny of what God is.
God you are my treasure,
The most glorious jewel,
God you are my pleasure,
I rejoice in you,
Lord you are my joy,
The brightest ever smile,
To you, I do employ,
Help me thru each trial,
Christ, you are my ransom,
Worth more than gold,
My price was more than handsom,
Yet to your will I'm sold,
Spirit, you are my peacefulness,
By me night and day,
Please restore my easiness,
Help me along my way,

• Apr. 24, 2008 - Pass-over Poem
You, Oh God are alive!
You do not sit idle on your throne!
You keep a steady lookout over your people,
Throughout the earth you keep watch,
You watch now as you watched long ago,
In the time of Israel's oppression you gazed,
You saw the Egyptians with their bitting whips,
You saw the Egyptians inslave your children,
And because you are merciful, you saved them,
By your hand you delievered Israel,
You proved your strength over and over,
Ten times did you rebuked Egypt,
Yet our wing was spread across Israel,
You saved Israel.
Hello everyone! I did this poem in honor of the Pass-over that took place last weekend. Even if you don't practice The Pass-over it is a great thing to know a little about.
Everyone knows the story of the Ten Plagues of Egypt. How the Egyptians enslaved God's people and how God delt with them. He used the plagues to help set his people free but also to show his power. His Holy power must have wowed most of Egypt! However we all know that pharoah wouldn't give up the slaves. Then the final plague happened. The first-born of every family was to die. To protect His people, God had his children spread Goat's blood on their door-posts. Well...anyway this last plague finally hit home to the Egyptian ruler and he let Israel go. The Pass-over is held to remember that night of delieverence. In fact, God commanded it to be celebrated. Now the whole P.O meal has symbolism, but I don't know all of those things, but please look it up in the Bible and internet and reserch it. I love all you guys. Remember God is good!
Bye

• Apr. 16, 2008 - Famous Worship songs 3
Again I shall pause in writing my poetry to look at a beautiful piece of work ya'll probably have already heard or sung in church. I have a specific reason for posting this song. The line 'you give and take away' has been a sorta theme at my house this week. Good health has, one could say, been taken,(although certainly only for a short time!) but the Lord still never leaves our side! God has given our church 'unity' back . We narrowly avoided a church split. GOD WORKS! So... read and hum along! COME ON!
Blessed Be Your Name
Blessed be Your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
And blessed be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name
Chorus:
Every blessing You pour out I'll
Turn back to praise
And when the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's "all as it should be"
Blessed be You name
And blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name
Chorus
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
I will bless Your name
Chorus
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name |

• Mar. 27, 2008 - Compared
The forest is as your garden,
The mountain like your foot-stool,
The wind is as your breathe,
The sea is like your pond,
The stars are like your candles,
The hills are like your sand-castles,
You are the Awesome One.
The God who holds us all.

• Mar. 25, 2008 - Famous Worship Songs :Part 2
Here is a look at another Great worship song. Read it and take it in. If you know the tune, take a minute and sing it to God!
Divine Romance:By Phil Wickham
The fullness of Your grace is here with me
The richness of Your beauty’s all I see
The brightness of Your glory has arrived
In Your presence God, I’m completely satisfied
For You I sing I dance
Rejoice in this divine romance
Lift my heart and my hands
To show my love, to show my love
A deep deep flood, an Ocean flows from You
Of deep deep love, yeah it’s filling up the room
Your innocent blood, has washed my guilty life
In Your presence God I’m completely satisfied |

• Mar. 21, 2008 - Purim-Feast Day of Esther
You all know from time to time I'll make an exception on this poetry blog and post in 'common' sentences; so today I'm doing a little tribute on Purim: the Jewish feast-day of Queen Esther. I'm not Jewish, but my church and my family like to study about and sometimes celebrate the Old Testament holidays. This year Purim is on the 21st of March. It is to comemorate when Esther stood up for her people.
Esther 9:23-28
Purim Celebrated
23 So the Jews agreed to continue the celebration they had begun, doing what Mordecai had written to them. 24 For Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had plotted against the Jews to destroy them and had cast the pur (that is, the lot) for their ruin and destruction. 25 But when the plot came to the king's attention, [a] he issued written orders that the evil scheme Haman had devised against the Jews should come back onto his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows. 26 (Therefore these days were called Purim, from the word pur .) Because of everything written in this letter and because of what they had seen and what had happened to them, 27 the Jews took it upon themselves to establish the custom that they and their descendants and all who join them should without fail observe these two days every year, in the way prescribed and at the time appointed. 28 These days should be remembered and observed in every generation by every family, and in every province and in every city. And these days of Purim should never cease to be celebrated by the Jews, nor should the memory of them die out among their descendants.

• Mar. 19, 2008 - Raise Me Up
A Psalm Of Sorrow
written By Lexi (OldFashionGirl)
Raise up my heart Lord!
Lift it from the whirling waters,
Lift it up and comfort it!
For I am beaten down,
My face has lines of sorrow,
Do not let me feel this despare,
You have done so many good works!
Help me remember them and be glad!
Is one sorrow to drown out all my happiness?
Will one pain ruin it all?
But God lift my heart, and my eyes!
Let me see the beauty all around one ugliness!
Take away my blindness!
Help me bare my one pain!
Give me courage God to face my PAIN...
And wisedom to see all the other beauty,
For you bless me God,
I am a garden where you have planted many wonderous things!
Let not one weed destroy me!
Give me a spad!
Give me a shovel!
Help me dig out that weed!
And if you would have me keep that weed, Oh God,
Give me patience as a medicene,
For God, the all weed's have thorns,
Help me bare the troubles I have to bare,
For can I do it myself?
Even the afflictions I must bare,
I need assistance with,
I need you.
Please give me my medicene so the thorns in my garden won't destroy me!
God lend your hand!
Let me focus on the blessings!
Oh God turn my sight on the roses!

• Mar. 14, 2008 - A Look at Famous Worspip songs PART :1
Hello. I am going to do something different today. Usually I write my own poems, but today we'll look at a praise'n worship piece that came from another. This is a beautiful song and I'm printing the lyrics here. If you haven't heard the melody, please take a chance and look up "All Creatures Of OUR God And King" on a music site.
GOD BLESS! ~Lexi
All Creature of Our God And King
1. All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voice and with us sing, O praise ye! Alleluia! O brother sun with golden beam, O sister moon with silver gleam! O praise ye! O praise ye! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
2. O brother wind, air, clouds, and rain, by which all creatures ye sustain, O praise ye! Alleluia! Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice, ye lights of evening, find a voice! O praise ye! O praise ye! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
3. O sister water, flowing clear, make music for thy Lord to hear, Alleluia! Alleluia! O brother fire who lights the night, providing warmth, enhancing sight, O praise ye! O praise ye! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
4. Dear mother earth, who day by day unfoldest bleassings on our way, Alleluia! Alleluia! The flowers and fruits that in thee grow, let them God's glory also show! O praise ye! O praise ye! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
5. All ye who are of tender heart, forgiving others, take your part, O praise ye! Alleluia! Ye who long pain and sorrow bear, praise God and on him cast your care! O praise ye! O praise ye! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
6. And thou, our sister, gentle death, waiting to hush our latest breath, Alleluia! Alleluia! Thou leadest home the child of God, and Christ our Lord the way has trod, O praise ye! O praise ye! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
7. Let all things their Creator bless, and worship him in humbleness, O praise ye! Alleluia! Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son, and praise the Spirit, Three in One! O praise ye! O praise ye! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! |

• Jan. 13, 2008 - Help me- a prayer
God make known to me the paths I should take,
Make my heart be willing to go that way,
For God, you are all knowing,
You see everything,
In Knowledge you abound,
You drew the paths before hand,
You mapped my life prior to the world,
When darkness filled the empty world,
When sun and moon were only in YOUR thoughts,
When You were all there was,
Lord You knew about me,
You knew every creature winged and walking,
Mountains and seas mingled with your thoughts,
Heavenly Father please clear the mists that cloud my eyes,
Help me take the roads You planned,
For whom am I to trek out my own life?
What knowledge resides in my mind?
Swell up in my heart your love,
the desire to walk by Your Holiness,
Fill my family with peace,
Let the sight of your works minister to me!
You are an awesome God!
Your love endures to all generations!
Help this servant to know you,
Fill her with understanding,
For she loves you and wants to follow you,
Amen

• Jan. 2, 2008 - Lord Grant me...
Pour down grace on me,
That I might stand blameless,
Wash me clean,
That I might be made acceptable,
Take away my worry and doubt,
That I may better serve you,
Shift my mind to your hands,
That I may ponder lovely things,
Shift my hope onto your gift,
That I may be joyful everyday,
Hold me close under your wings,
That I may feel your love,
Whisper, "I'll take care of you!",
That I might find hope and move on,
Lord grant me thankfulness inside,
That I may dance like David!

He is a friend that's by my side,
He is a shelter I can hide in,
