7-Up Croissant Cobbler Recipe

Posted in Just for Fun

Several weeks ago I posted a picture of Jarod with his Dessert Contest entry, 7-UP Croissant Cobbler.  Thank you, Jarod for giving me the recipe as posted here:

"7up Croissant Cobbler"

2 cans of croissant rolls
1 can of cherry pie filling (or your favorite)
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of butter
1 can of 7up soda pop

Roll croissant rolls out into squares. Put a spoonful of pie filling in the center, and place into a 8 x 13 pan. Boil for 1 minute sugar, butter, and 7up in a sauce pan, pour over croissants. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until dark brown. Eat up and enjoy!!!

Band is Grand!

Posted in Just for Fun

Home schooled students in central Oklahoma are blessed with the opportunity to be involved in a quality music program---a band, just for home schoolers!

Not only is the band open to children of all ages and abilities, but parents are also encouraged to participate.  Even if you have never played an instrument before, you can learn.  My children and I have played in the band for 5 years now, and none of us knew how to play a band instrument when we first started.  Truthfully, I can say that band has enriched our lives in a fun and exciting way.

The beginning and intermediate bands meet in Shawnee on Thursday mornings at University Baptist Church.  You can see in the pictures that Shawnee has a good-sized group of children (and a few moms, too), that meet for intermediate band directed by Mr. David Bellows.  If anybody has any pictures of the beginning band, please email them to me and I will add them to this site.

Yes, band really is grand!
Ruth

Posted in Just for Fun

If you've never been to Jan Brett's site, you should!  Jan Brett is an author and illustrator of children's books, and her work is absolutely wonderful.

On her website Jan offers oodles of free stuff---coloring pages, activity pages, alphabet flash cards, number cards, calendars, name tags, postcards, awards and certificates, puzzles, word lists, book jackets, lesson planners, stationery, cross-stitch patterns, placemats, games, paperdolls, and more..... you name it, and it's probably there.  Much of what Jan offers is great for homeschoolers, for learning and for fun!

The website is www.janbrett.com. Click here for the complete index of activities, or here for classroom help-a-longs.

Post a comment and let me know how you like Jan's site. :-)
