Well it has been a busy time, a bit of deja vu from last spring I'd say, when everything we're involved in seems to pick up the pace. We've already been on two field trips this month with four more to go for March!
I had a really good time working the Tapestry of Grace booth for the CHOH conference earlier this month. It was very nice going into the conference knowing I was very comfortable with most everything we were already using. (Exception was spelling for which I found an alternative, see blog post.)
I did buy the next level up in Math-U-See, whose booth was just across from us. (It was nice speaking to the MUS reps, they were very nice!) To the left of us was Beautiful Feet, from which I purchased two D'Aulaire books I didn't own yet and a book on William Bradford. To the right of us was Alpha Omega. The reps were also very nice. I asked so many questions about the Thomas Kincade Drawing Basics program they were selling. I ended up buying it in the end. My DD REALLY loves to draw and I figured this was a good investment for her. I especially liked it that it contains DVD lessons, something that will help this ol' mom out! Elsewhere in the exhibit hall I purchased two books from Christian Liberty Press, one on the Wright Brothers and one of the CLP nature readers. Finally, I bought a couple of Usborne books from the rep there.
Though I had initially found a few workshops to attend during the conference, I decided not to attend any of them. I didn't see much point in even the ones that originally caught my interest since I already liked what I was using. The majority of the workshops were glorified "infomercials" (in my opinion) and I knew if i sat in on that type of format I might be tempted to let my eyes stray. So, I just stayed at the TOG booth.
I had so much fun answering questions and showing how Tapestry of Grace actually works. It was nice for TOG users to stop by and say "HI!" to us and just share their love of the curriculum.
On the Navy front... we're currently up for orders (where we will move to next, what duty assignment DH will get) but we've no idea where that will be. Those that know me know my concerns. All our fingers and toes are crossed and prayers are said regularly for a good set of orders. *sigh* Stay tuned for a future update on this particular subject.
DD is eating lunch, she has piano in a little while. Meatloaf, steamed veggies, & a salad is on tap for this evening's dinner. Laundry is pretty much caught up. Will run another load tomorrow. Oh! We've got a field trip tomorrow. Will need to prep for that.
Well, guess that's it for now. |
