So over the last week or so I've come to realize that some of the things we're using just aren't working... namely, the composition book for studied dictation and the hardback bound nature journal of my daughter.
I'm going to cut out the entries into the comp book and glue to handwriting paper. These will be kept in a 3ring binder for now. (Could be later bound if desired.)
The blank pages in the nature journal isn't conducive to neat handwriting for her, and glue things into a hardback bound book will eventually leave it busting at the binding. So, I've scanned all her pages in and uploaded them. Unfortunately, she made some of her entries back-to-back of previous entries. So, I've decided that the ones that are "less than stellar" will be printed off from the scans, and I can cut out and use the actual entry for others. I'll glue those to loose leaf paper. These, two will be placed in a 3-ring binder.
Now, I'm NOT a fan of 3-ring binders nowadays... they're just too bulky. But, I can't think of any other method of storing these pages. It is essential that being able to cut out sketches/paintings and glue them on to an entry page is possible. Additionally, I'd like my daughter to be able to adhere some pressed flowers and leaves, etc. to her pages.
So for now, this is what I'm doing.
Anyway, if you'd like to see the scans of our nature journals you can click here...
(hope that link works, never shared a "set" before)
And you can read about the entries at the nature studies blog page... (though I'm not certain all show up there, or fall off into the archives) |
