July 31st... that's when the contracted movers come and pack up our household. I've got 21 days to figure out what I still want to try to sell, give away, donate, and otherwise dispose of. 21 days until our life goes into a stage of limbo. I hope to have found a place to live my mid-September, but who knows.
Anyway, after a handful of days of my DD feeling less than stellar (sore throat, rising temp, just plain ol' under the weather) she says she's beginning to feel a bit better. She got through all her lessons today (though we omitted narrations and only listened to the folk songs for the day, didn't sing them.) He appetite seems to e coming back too (ham and cheese tortilla melt, apple, yogurt, cukes for lunch) and she's out in the front yard right now finishing up Friday's nature journal entry (topic: plumeria tree.)
Maintenance came by this morning and repaired a hole in the top of a wall in the laundry room. *sigh* It happened because the garage door hinge (some type of big heavy, weighted door with a hydrolic or something type hinge thing) busted and when the door was opened it just FLUNG right into the wall, instead of opening heavily and slowly like normal. He was here just a few minutes. At least the wall is patched and door fixed... always a good thing to get completed BEFORE your move out inspection. LOL
I checked out our deep freeze this morning. *another sigh* That is going to be a headache for me. There is way too much food in there with the move coming up quickly. It would be no big deal if my husband weren't deployed this month, but with him gone, well, we just don't eat as muchand I don't cook big meals as much. But I'm bound and determined to at least make a dent in the contents. I pulled a whole fryer chicken out to thaw (will roast in the crockpot tomorrow) as well as some stirfry beef (yes, for stirfry.) The veggie burgers and all the frozen veggies I'll just have to do as best as I can. There is probably more meat in there than I can possibly cook up in time to unplug and defrost/drain the freezer. If that happens I'll have to contact one of my local buddies and see if their family would like the foods. I did manage to cook up some edemame this afternoon for snacking. Tonight's dinner is ... yep.. chicken. And okra. Maybe i'll toss a couple of biscuits in the, too, for DD. I don't typically eat them.
