Today my daughter (9.5yo) read an article in her God's World News newspaper about a campaign going on right now to elect Seven New Wonders of the World. I personally had no idea this was going on. We were both excited to visit the official website and learn more.
New7Wonders.com

This is a campaign for the whole world to get involved in. The winners will be announced on July 7, 2007 (7-7-07.) The original nominees numbered almost 200 but they've been whittled down by a panel of architecthural experts to the finalists of twenty-one.

So my daughter and I looked through all most all of the finalists' "bios" and we voted for our favorites online. (Though they do offer a phone-in voting process, too.) Even my DH managed to get his votes in with us before walking out the door to get his tire fixed. (LOL)
You can vote for seven finalists on your ballot. You do have to go through a very short registration process to have your votes officially cast.
Wondering which we voted for? Well here they are...

To extend this historical campaign into an enriching educational opportunity you can find classroom guides and teacher guides as well as student projects by following this link.
And if all that isn't enough for you, you can also post your own slogan idea, which they might decide to use to promote this campaign. Post your slogan idea here. |
