Here's a few photos of our garden about 4 weeks after planting. Radishes, carrots, beans, lettuce, & morning glories were grown from seeds; everything else was small store-bought transplants.
In the full garden shot, you can sort of see our neighbor's "landscaping" patch. (Lovely military issue. LOL) That is what our area looked like when we moved in...right up until this winter when my husband went out on a "warm" day and dug it all up & pulled everything out. Then, this spring, he reworked it all. I added more soils & some organic fertilizer to it. Chicken wire keep squirrels and bunnies, birds haven't yet been a problem.
Things are just starting to take off. We did have 2 or 3 strawberries shortly after we transplanted them, but they weren't too hardy, and not from *our* labors, so I'm not counting them as part of our harvest. LOL However, the last image in the slideshow shows our very first harvest... the good ol' trusty radish.
Yesterday I saw two new blooming flowers on the strawberries, so hoping those take off. The cherry tomato plant has many more flowers, and the cukes are beginning to find the small trellis. I still need to find something for the beans to grow up, not sure on that yet. Once the morning glories start to vine up the trellis I'll move the container over to it's home.
Anyway, nothing fancy, but it is a source of enjoyment for the whole family! Thanks for looking! |
