As usual, I was the first one to wake. I got up, paid the bills, checked some downloads I had going on, checked my emails, then did some news reading on Google. The house finches were busy arguing outside on one of the two finch socks. Golden finches kept try to come in through the patio door/windows. (They see their reflection on them in the mornings.) It was pretty neat seeing them perch on the window screen, so close.
DH got up later (he works nights) and first thing he did was come to the patio door and suddenly he said, "COOL- a hummingbird!" Yep, sure enough a hummingbird was finally spotted on our red feeder! Truth be told, I really didn't think we'd see any. I was merely just "going along" with the putting up of the hummingbird feeder in our back yard. I just didn't think we'd get any because we're not really cloaked in trees, my garden isn't very "flowery" and certainly not in the preferred red flowers. But, there it was. A Ruby-throated hummmingbird. Pretty cool indeed. I'll have to add it to our backyard birding blog entries here soon.
So, I'm sitting here drinking my giant mug of chai tea with half-and-half. The kids are up doing their morning routine type stuff and DH is probably up reading today's news on Yahoo. The weather is suppose to be pretty cool, but I'm hoping it just doesn't rain! We had rain all day yesterday and the kids pretty much went stir crazy... or maybe they just drove *me* crazy. I have to finish up the paperwork to mail in for DD's Girl Scout summer camp. It needs to go out in the mail TODAY! I'll probably take the kids to the library today for a quick drop-in as DS (soon to be 16) wants to get the regular (not special edition) version of the LOTR trilogy since the special edition won't play on the portable DVD player he is playing them on in the homeschool room. Plus, I have some things to return anyway and I think I have a few holds waiting for me at the other library, too.
