Aug. 1, 2008 The Homeschool Planner- Amazing
Well I told you yesterday that I was starting a “let’s get organized” theme for this week. Well, what inspired me, you ask? THIS planner! I have been buying homeschool materials for nearly 20 years and have never found anything this useful.
I don’t even know where to start. There is so much in here I don’t think the title of planner does it justice. It could easily be called a family organizer, a homeschool planner, a brain, a scrapbook, a financial center, a day planner, a kitchen organizer, an inventory center, a unit study springboard, a homeschool handbook, a record keeper, and so on and so on. The only bad thing is that I didn’t have this when I first started homeschooling years ago, because now I regret that I won’t have my two oldest included because they have already graduated.
No matter what you include in your household or homeschool, this planner will help. If you love lapbooking you will love the ideas. If you write your own unit studies, you will love the resources. If you are tired of having everything you need scattered in 20 different places you will love the organization. And if you unschool but want to keep track of all of the great learning opportunities tht arise naturally they even have you covered for that.
I remember when my oldest son was little, boy did he keep me hoppin! There were some days when he was napping that I would look at cute pictures of him we had around the house. It would remind me that he wasn’t always in trouble and after his nap I could start fresh again. Well this planner will also remind us that homeschooling is joyful even when it is challenging. Having records of good events reminds us of God’s faithfullness and gives us strength during hard times, tht is why God’s word tells us to write it down for the next generation. So many of us are first generation homeschoolers, but what if we had a “You Can Do It!” journal from our parents to encourage us? I for one have been to busy learning how to do it, but I fully intend to start writing that journal, especially since our first grandchild will be arriving early next year. And I intend to use this planner as a way of writing it.
I would suggest first taking time to thoroughly go through each section and customizing the pages, then print the ones you will use (nearly all) and put them in a new 3 ring binder. Then you can fill in, doodle on, color, and write on however it pleases you, and if you mess up a page, reprint and start over! That is the beauty of having a digital copy. I love the cover too, I think I am going to print that out and put it in the plastic at the front of the binder. I would suggest getting a binder a little bigger than you think you will need, so you have room to grow. Don’t be afraid to write those “God thoughts” in the side margins.
So, what is in it? Everything from recipes, to daily planner pages, to history and geography facts….. oh you just have to take a look for yourselves!

Mar. 3, 2008 where have I been?
Well in case I didn't tell you, (where HAS my brain been?) our oldest daughter is getting married in May. Big wedding small budget. So we planned this online fundraiser, please please tell your friends.

So, planning that has kept me real busy, planning the wedding and trying to do a big fancy traditional (well minus some of the yucky traditions) wedding at 1/10th of the cost has been a real challenge. And then I have this computer that moves slower than a behemoth, I guess it isn't really that bad it just can't keep up with ME! And let me see, whether I am ready or not, things progress around me. Have a pony due to birth any day. Have a son who will be marrying age soon and I really want to spend time with him, he is such the wonderful son. Trying not to let the others fall by the wayside while I focus on the older one's needs is a challenge. Mercy is reading everything in site and always asking what a word is.
S, where have I been? ya know, just normal everyday life! and mostly at my other blog www.pennyraine.com/blog come see me there too! |

Feb. 27, 2008 fire and focus
I need to get focused today! I really need to get some work done. I have this big FireSale we are organizing for next week. Why? Because April is getting married and they want a big wedding, and we the bride's parents get to pay for it all, and even with lots of dime squeezing, WEDDINGS ARE EXPENSIVE! So, we are hoping, and praying to raise the needed funds to pay for it. But I need to get it organized. But instead of planning the sale, my mind keeps drifting to planning the wedding.
And then, the other thing. Last night I was blessed to spend the evening with Skeet Savage. She is the editor and publisher of Homeschool Digest and An Encouragaing Word and Brush Arbor Quarterly magazines. She is incredible, with a message of HOPE and REDEMPTION! Have you ever been part of an experience with the Lord that you knew was so much bigger than you could realize and how you just need to process it all? Well that was last night. I feel like I spent time with Moses. Skeet is a modern day deliverer. I can't even put into words all that the Lord did last night. Maybe I can share more later. But I would sure like to spend the day just pondering. Would you pray that I get everything with this sale in place at the speed of light!
And then would you pray that we find the perfect place for April's shower in 2 weeks, eeks!
And then would you pray that my day falls into place?
on top of all that, it is 28 degrees out, snowing, I have no reason to get out (unless we run out of t.p.that I forgot to buy) and I feel the Lord pulling, I really just want to spend the day praying!
blessings, Penny Raine

Feb. 16, 2008 school on Saturdays
anybody have any switched on schoolhouse they aren't using? we got hooked on it a few years back when a friend gave us 3 years worth, now since even the younger ones love it I am trying to fill in the ones we don't have. I really like the older ones like 2000 and up to 2002 but will take any. They say you can't resell for a profit but you can give them to a friend. Don't you want to be my friend?

My Mercy loves to write stories. Problem is, she is only 5, and barely reads. So she wants me to spell each and every word as she writes it. So I get to spell words for her out loud as she is writing one thing and I am writing another. My, my, nobody can multi-task like a Momma!

Jan. 31, 2008 I want to be like HIM
Jan. 29, 2008 staying home
I was just looking out at the rainy weather and thinking, "I get to stay home today!" Ijust love the days when I don't need to go anywhere, I try my best to only run errands only a couple days a week and do those in the days I go to the gym with my bigger daughters. I do have children that drive but this momma prefers to still be with them. So while I love doing the things they do along with them, my heart really loves staying home.

Jan. 18, 2008 temptation, just say NO
“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”- 1 Corinthians 10:13
