The Princess Journey
• Apr. 9, 2006 - Proverb of the day
| Something I like to do every once in a while is to read a chapter in Proverbs, picking the number for what day it is. I don't do it every day, but I always find a piece of wisdom tucked away. Today, Proverbs 9 had some things that popped out at me! "8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. 9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. 11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased." Those were really helpful to me. Sometimes I tell people what I think to much, and what I got from this is that I need to be careful to understand who I am talking to, before I go telling them how I see things. I'm not saying anyone is perfect, but concerning things of the spirit, there is a certain amount of discernment which the Lord will give to us if we just ask him. "Lord, how should I talk to this person?" and "Lord, is it going to further your kingdom if I say this?". This corresponds with James 1:5 & 6 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. " and 26 "If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain."
