Animal Kingdom

We are going to Disney World in January and my mom is doing a fun thing on her blog called Destination Disney.  Every other Friday, you can share about a different topic.  Each one will have something to do with Disney.  If you love Disney, you should do this too!

This week, we are talking about Animal Kingdom.  Here is a picture of my family at Animal Kingdom is 2005.  This was when I was still 4 years old.

Some of the things I like about Animal Kingdom are:

• Going on the safari ride to see the animals
• Festival of the Lion King show
• Meeting the characters at Camp Minnie-Mickey

I don't like It's Tough to be a Bug inside the Tree of Life.  The tree is neat, but the show freaks me out!

When we go in January, I want to:

• Dig for dinosaur bones
• See the Festival of the Lion King show again
• Get a Safari Journal and keep track of the animals we see

Guess what?!

I haven't posted on my blog in awhile.  We have been so busy with finishing up our school for the year and going on vacation.  We just got back from a week at the beach.  It was fun!  I love going to the ocean and playing in the sand.  We made a little swimming pool for my little brother - we dug a hole in the sand and used an old shower curtain to put over the hole and fill with water.  Ian loved it!  So he played in his pool while I made sandcastles. 

When we got home, we got some good news.  My picture is going to be on the front of a book!  My mom, Ashley, and I got to read the book awhile ago because my mom is friends with the author.  It's a really good book!  We think it's the best Circle C book yet!  Here is the cover:

Assignment 22 ~ Border Countries

Vietnam is bordered by 3 other countries~ China (to the north), Laos, and Cambodia (on the west).  I have never visited any of these countries.  The east coast of Vietnam borders the Pacific Ocean.

Assignment 21 ~ Vietnam's President

This week's assignment is to give information on our state's governor.  Since Vietnam is a country, rather than a state, we thought we'd share about the president:

The presidential palace is located in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The president is Nguyễn Minh Triết
*in Vietnam, they write and say their name last, middle, first instead of first, middle, last like we do here in the USA

He was elected by the National Assembly of Vietnam with 464 votes (94.12%) on June 27, 2006. He was formerly the head of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Hồ Chí Minh City.

Here is a picture of Vietnam's president with George W. and Laura Bush~ this picture was taken when President Bush visited Vietnam in November 2006 (right before my mom went to pick up my brother Ian)

The president's wife is wearing the traditional dress of Vietnam, called an Ao Dai.  You might want to know that President Bush also wore an ao dai while visiting Vietnam.  Here is a picture:

Assignment 20 ~ National Bird

I can't do this week's assignment.  Vietnam doesn't have a national bird.

The state bird of Pennsylvania is the Ruffed Grouse.  My sister Ashley will share the information about this bird on her blog.  Here is a picture of it:
