A season for......Purple Orchids

September 17, 2007 - Ancient History Pre-Deluge

Any one read Chapter 4 of Genesis lately?

It shows that Cain and his descendants were smart and intellegent?  Cain's family built cities, they weren't just cave dwellers or hunters and gatherers.

"Jabel was the father of those who live in tents and raise livestock"

"Jubal was the father of all who play the harp and flute"

""Tubal-Cain who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron"

November 22, 2006 - In mourning for the church

Today I read this article:

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53056

I then went to some of the links that can be found in the media.  I read the last of the three that there is some hope possibly for a remant.

Then tonight I watched a Anne of Green Gables movie about where she is stuck in London, and France looking for her dear husband Gill.  I saw what was going on back in WWI.  I fear for what will happen in the future for the Church.

I know that God has everything in control, and that things will work to the good for those that Love the Lord.  But my heart aches for the pain and suffering that will happen, because people now can't be bothered with children.

Lord, please help us train up the next generation to be true arrows for your kingdom.

October 20, 2006 - Witnessing 101

There are really on two religious groups: Grace and Works.  Most religions are works religions.  Where Christianity is a one of Grace.  God is wooing us, and offering us his grace, he sent his only Son as the sacrifice. All we have to do is accept it and repent of our sins and seek God and His Righteousness.

So if you come in contact with anyone, and you don't feel qualified to witness, you can always tell them your testimony.  Let them know what Christ has done for you!

Offer to pray for them.  If they are offended, then always apologize for offending them and try to leave a good witness for Christ. (You may be leaving a seed).

This are my notes of what Doris Slappey has shared with us, during a witnessesing class.

July 1, 2006 - Isaiah chapter 5 sounds a lot like the United States today.

Isaiah chapter 5 sounds a lot like the United States today.

12 The harp and the strings, The tambourine and flute, And wine are in their feasts; But they do not regard the work of the Lord, Nor consider the operation of His hands. 13 Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished, And their multitude dried up with thirst.

Our country is full of people who are in the captivity of sin.  For example look at Hollywood, they have their parties.  They produce movies that aren’t family friendly.  The popular ones promote causes like save the Oak tree, save the spotted owl.  Our court system has systematically taken God out of the classroom, like no prayer, no Bible reading.  Our education system fails promote courses that show God’s hand/providence throughout history.  They don’t consider how orderly the universe was created.  They call mathematics neutral, if the world was created with evolution, then why do we have laws, why is 1 plus 1 always two? Shouldn’t mathematics be also ever changing?

20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;

Our courts and government leaders calls homosexuality good, where as the Lord God calls it evil.    Some leaders (government, scientists, and doctors) call a pre-born child a blob of tissues, while the Lord calls children a blessing.   Children who are thought to be less than perfect, are aborted, because the parents and society doesn’t want to be burden.

23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man! 24 Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Many corporate and government leaders have become corrupt. (I.e. Enron, Congress who passes laws contrary to God’s Word, District Court Nine in California which passes judgment contrary to God’s laws.)  Our country is on the road to reject the law of the Lord, and when that happens God will reject us.

So while we still have our freedoms let the Church rise up and are the salt and light.  Parents train your children in the Lord; talk with them about the events of the day, in the light of God’s word. Help you children to hide God’s word in their hearts, so that it will guide them in the days to come, also it will help them not to sin against God.   Then reach out to others and share with them the gospel.  Write letters call government leaders, companies tell them to follow Godly principals. But most of all pray for our leaders, start first by praying for the church to be the Bride of Christ. That our pastors will always abide by God’s word and follow it.  Pray for our government at all levels.  Support godly men who are in public office.

June 1, 2006 - Barry ( A Five in Row type book)

I found a neat little Five in a Row type book. I thought you might would enjoy
it too, if you can find it in your library system.

The Story of a Brave St. Bernard Barry, by Bettina Hurlimann.

This is a story of how the St. Bernard dog got it's name. It comes from a Hospice in the Alps, located near the Great Saint Bernard Pass. The dogs date back to before Napoleon.

This would make a perfect week long study. You could locate the Swiss Alps.
Draw a picture of snow, and avalanches. Talk about who Napoleon was and why a war was taking place. You could check out picture books of the St. Bernard type
dogs. Then you could talk about what a hospice is. Another good discussion would be about Monks, what a Prior is, how they dressed a long time ago. You could talk about the laterns they used. One day you might want to draw a picture of a St. Bernard.

May 29, 2006 - Link to an article "Should Christians use Birth Control"

Dr. ALbert Molher writes about "Should Christians use Birth Control".

http://www.businessreform.com/article.php?articleID=11958

I truly hope that he sparks a revival in this country, for the family.  I hope and pray that other pastors will jump on his message.  For children are truly a blessing from God.  They are home grown arrows that we can send out for the war that we are in.  They can be the workers for the harvest, that the New Testament talks about.

I feel that too many women today are reaping the consequences of  having taken "The Pill"

too long.  How many women do we know that are in thier forties that still have all thier female reproductive parts?  I feel that most women today have bought into the lie, that Satan still pertrates that children are a burden.  I doubt a study would ever be done to show the harmful effects of prolonged usage of the Pill.   So, ladies let's be the Titus 2 woman for the next generation of young women, to teach them to love thier children, all of thier children that God will bless them with.

March 21, 2006 - Are you clinging to God?

Today I was reading in Deuteronomy 30.  I came across these two verses

30:14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart that you may do it

30:19-20 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessings and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20. That you may love the Lord your God, that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to give them.

Cling to the Lord, hide his word in your heart, so that you will not sin against him.

Don't let the day to day things get in your way, make time for the Lord.  Stay near to him.  Pray without ceasing, dwell on his word.  Seek His Kingdom first.

March 6, 2006 - What is the apple of thine eye?

Today I was reading in Proverbs 7.  I came across verse 2. (Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye).  Can you imagine what the church would be like today, if God's law was the apple of your eye.  In the New Testament, Jesus said the greatest commandment is to "Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind", and the second is like it, "Love your neighbor as yourself. (Matt 22:37&39).

So today, make a choice for God's law to be the apple of your eye.  Make an extra effort to hide God's word in your heart, commune with Jesus.  Then go out and show someone Jesus through your actions.

February 11, 2006 - The Warfare

The Warfare

Our children are blessings (Ps. 127:3), they are arrows (Ps. 127:4), and they shall speak with the enemies in the gate (Ps.1275).  Let us sharpen our arrows for the war that they are entering into, so that they can fight with the enemy.

Psalm 127: 1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

The war that we are engaged in is described in Ephesians 6:12, and how to be prepared for it is found in Ephesians 6:10-18.

Ephesians 6:10-18 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh F18 and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

We are in a spiritual warfare; therefore cry out for your children.

Lamentations 2:19 Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.

Bring your children up for the Lord, not for Caesar.

Luke 20:25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's. (See also Mt. 22:21 and Mark 12:17)

February 11, 2006 - Teaching your children

Teaching your children

One of the purposes of marriage is to produce godly seed.

Malachi 2:15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed.  Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth.

Make a choice to serve the Lord!

Joshua 24:15  But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

How to teach your children:

Deuteronomy 6:5-7  5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Commands to fathers:

Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Passing on your faith:

2 Timothy 1: 5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

Make sure that they know the scriptures from childhood.

2 Timothy 3:14-17  14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

February 3, 2006 - Can we have a national day of Praise?

This past month I have been reading through the Psalms.  We have a national day of Prayer, a day of Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.  But we don't have a national day of  Praise.  Why don't we have one for Praising our Lord, Savior and Comforter?

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a National Day of Praise?  For cities across our nation to be full of people priasing the Lord.  I know we do that in a way each Sunday.  But the whole day is not spent in praise, and it is not set apart for the world to know that we are a Christian nation that is praising our creator, and savior.

So I challenge myself, and others to see if we can set up a National Day of Praise.

December 19, 2005 - Live by every word of God

Luke 4:4

And Jesus answered him, saying, it is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Today I was reading to my children where Jesus was being tempted by Satan.

Toward the end it shows that Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."

That means EVERYWORD OF GOD, from Genesis to Revelation.  God's word is relevant forever.  It is always in season.  Whether it is "be fruitful and multiply", to "teaching your children as you rise up, sit down, walk and lie down", that the purpose of marriage is "Godly seed", and "Go and make disciples", His word is always appropriate.  So the next time you hear a "Christian say that God didn't create the world, the flood was a "local flood", ask them to read Luke 4:4.  Ask them if they believe what Jesus said to be true?

November 19, 2005 - Thank you letter to parents

Below is a thank you letter that I sent out to the parents of the children in my Sunday school class.

Long ago, the Pilgrims honored God by celebrating Thanksgiving for His provision and protection during their first year at Plymouth in a new world.  Therefore, with this Thanksgiving season upon us, I would like to thank you for investing in the spiritual lives of your children.  Thank you for you faithful attendance at our Church.  Thank you, parents, for “Bringing them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord,” (Ephesians 6:4).

In Psalm 78:1-7, God instructs His people not to hide His Word from their children, but to show to the next generation the praises of the Lord, his strength, and his wonderful works that he has done.  Thank you for bringing your children to church, and training them at home.   This will help train and prepare the next generation to be faithful in the worship of our Lord.

Deuteronomy 6:1-10 charges us to teach our children the commandments, the statutes and the judgments of the Lord our God.  We should strive to teach them diligently to our children, talk of them when we sit in our house, when we walk by the way, when we lie down and when we rise up.    Please continue your Christian instruction at home.  The world is getting more evil every day, so please make sure they have been spiritually fed before going out into it.

I look forward to continuing to work with you for your child’s spiritual growth.

So if you happen to teach a Sunday school with  children, remember to thank the parents for bringing them to church.  You will never realize how many seeds you are sowing for Christ.

October 14, 2005 - Be Titus 2 women: Teach the younger women :to love thier children

From Titus 2: 3-5 we see the following.

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness,  not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Where are the Titus 2 women that are teaching the younger women to love thier children?  Most young women  about to be brides, are pumped with the lie that you need to take the pill, so you won't have children so soon.  But where is the motherly advise?  They tell the young girls that they need a job to help support thier families.  They are postponing a family, until they are living like the "Jones".  Meanwhile they are pumping thier bodies with all sorts of chemicals, that does who know what to thier young bodies.

I wish someone had told me about all the side effects of the Pill.  I wish someone had told me what joys the little children are to have.  I wish someone had said stay home with your little ones , that they grow up to quickly.  You can always get a job after the children grow up.  But those tender years with your child will be forever lost.  Remember to everything there is a season, you are privileged to have a season with children.  Live with them, love them, adore, raise them in the nuture and admonition of the Lord.

The Proverbs 31 woman worked from home, but yet she took good care of her family and her household.  She wasn't being some other man's help mate, she was a true helpmate to her husband.  She was able to be around her children.

So the next time you get an invitation to a bridal shower, a graduation for a young lady, take that girl and tuck her under your wing for a little while.  Gently guide her, remind of what the Lord calls children "Blessings".  Introduce her to natural family planning as an alternative.  Just please don't encourage her  in the choice of the pill or any of her evil sisters.  Be her friend and help guide her in the ways of the Lord.

The Lord will help you through.  God does call the fruit of the womb a reward, not a choice.

September 12, 2005 - All thy children shall be taught of the Lord.

Tonight I went to our homeschool meeting to begin the year. The pastors passage was

Ps. 78 1-8. 1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: 3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. 5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: 6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: 7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: 8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

He went on to say that this was talking to the nation of Isreal, not just the fathers. He said that we as the church needs to help the fathers raise up a godly children. In some churches where they have baby dedications, the church repeats something to the effect that they will help raise the child in the Christian ways. The family is not an island, they need the fellowship of other believers in the church. Someone else maybe able to help your child in an area that you can't.

Isaiah 54:13 "And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children"

Can you imagine the peace of our children if all were taught of the Lord.  So, take the time to help someone along on thier path.  Build them up, present Christ to them.

So just as so many churches are reaching out to the survivors of Katrina, in love. Let's continue helping our fellow man. I would love for the church to put the welfare system out of business. We have an open mission field right in our front yard. Start being Christ to the lost.

September 11, 2005 - Asking for a blessing

The other day  I was telling my daughter the story of Jacob wrestling with God. I was using Katherine Vos' Bible Story Book. She noted how that Jacob, would not let God go until, God blessed him, and how that Esau without thinking sold his blessing for a simple bowl of stew.

This made me think of what Nancy Campbell has been teaching for years about accepting our blessings (children) that God gives us. How many of us are like Esau, selling our blessing for convience(you fill in the blank), and taking a Pill, or some other form of birth control to deny a blessing from God.  Then later down the road are reaping the consequences having several different types of  female problems (ie hysterectomy, or endometriosis).

For those of you who want more information about the Pill and it harms, you can go to www.epm.org.  Randy Alcorn has written a booklet  "Does the Birth Control Pill Cause Abortions".  This booklet is online for free.  I think this should be required reading for all young couples about to get married.

Satan hates all the little image bearers, because man is made in the image of God. He is the father of deception.  I don't know how many have been lied to, saying that the Pill was Ok, when in reality it isn't.

God calls children blessings.  The Bible also says my people die for lack of truth.  So please, be like the Bereans, search the scripture to see if it be so, and for modern day things research to see what the things really are.

Please stop and think what a blessing it is to have the children you do
have. They are irreplaceable, an unique one of a kind individual,
that God has placed in your care.

August 18, 2005 - He is healing!!!!!!!!!!!

My son is getting better.  I think that I could give him his antibiotics in my sleep now.

His SED rate is now down to 58 as of last Thursday, and his CRP rate was 1.99.

The doctor took out his stitches in his leg.  So hopefully we won't have to give him this stuff much longer.

This year my dh wanted him to go to half-day K5, to help him come out of his shell.

So, he has been good for them, but the only thing he want talk for them.  So, I'm hoping that he will come out of his shell soon.  He talks  up a storm at home, it is just around people that he is not familiar with, he won't talk.

July 29, 2005 - The Joys of being a Mother/nurse

This past week my ds came down with Septic Knee.  So I have been learning about how to administer an antibiotic through a pic line.  We have been encouraging him to walk, but he had rather crawl.

Everyone needs to have a general first aid course and  how to change dressings on surgery sites.  They also need a course in how to diagnose problems.  A lot of what I have learned has been on the need to know basis.
