Lapbooking this one too! The curriculum has a lot of graphics I can use to make vocabulary lists and other booklets for a lapbook.
Writing and Grammar

I write a lot for articles for Growing In Grace. That is counted as my writing and grammar for school. I have assigned ‘history’ articles I have to do a little research on. Basically, I have to write a report about it.
I am also going to be doing a Cursive Writing book, because my handwriting is atrocious. And a Reading Engagement book. They are both from A Beka.
Well, since this is so late, I should get working on my next post for the Homeschool Memoirs!
Hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day.
Sincerely,

I hope you have enjoyed reading the thoughts and happenings of a fourteen-year-old girl from the country. "You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you!" Philippians 4:13

Happy Birthday Momma!
It Momma’s birthday today! She’s 40… growin’ old now. :) Everyday I thank God for my Momma. She is my comforter, adviser, teacher, but best of all, she’s *my Momma*. I love you so much, Momma, words can’t tell you just
how much you mean to me. I am so thankful that God gave me such a caring, loving, wonderful mother to teach me and train me to follow in His steps.
I know you love barns, especially ours, and this is one of of favourite pictures (minus the lawn mower). :) I took it one morning, before the sun came up. It had rained and it was beautiful, just like you!

Love you Momma, and I hope you have a wonderful day!
Love,
Lil’ Girlie

Homeschool Memoirs 2008-09 Beginning!

You can click on the link above and go to the post where Jocelyn posted all the details. There is also a linky that you can sign if you like to join. There are about 92 people signed up to do it right now… isn’t that great?! But here is a bit of info for you -
THE PURPOSE
This meme is to not only keep a “memoir” (posts) of your homeschool year, but to make a way for homeschoolers to get to know each other. Each week, on Wednesdays, we’ll post a new theme and you can participate by posting it on your site with your own homeschool memoirs. Once you’ve posted, come back and sign the linky. We hope you’ll be encouraged, informed, and connected with other homeschoolers and glean from the different ways they do their homeschool.
THEME

The first theme begins today, August 20th, 2008. This week, we want to hear about YOU. The author behind the words. The Momma behind all the homeschooling kiddos. Just write up something about you, your family, and your home. How long you’ve been homeschooling and why you decided to homeschool. It doesn’t have to be anything lengthy at all, but we’d love to hear it! You might include a family photo too!
Also, if you haven’t already done so, grab the Homeschool Memoirs icon code (located in sidebar) to place on your site and join us!
Each week we will include a Mr. Linky to sign so people can visit your theme and see your answers. Please make sure you always add your *theme* link.
EXAMPLE:
This:http://homeschoolblogawards.com/2008/08/homeschool-memoirs-2008-09.
Not this:http://homeschoolblogawards.com
FIRST ASSIGNMENT:
After you’ve signed up for the Homeschool Memoirs using the Mister Linky, go to your own blog and make a category just for our assignments and add the official button (code located on sidebar) to your sidebar to show you’re enrolled. You’re welcome to announce the BCM on your blog and invite your friends to join us as well!
I do hope that all of you will go over and sign the linky and do the weekly assignments! I’m so glad I can do the BCM! Hope you join us this *school* year… :)
Sincerely,
I hope you have enjoyed reading the thoughts and happenings of a fourteen-year-old girl from the country. "You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you!" Philippians 4:13

Saurday Psalm & Praise - Come Thou Fount

For my SP&P today, I decided on a hymn that speaks to me. It is called, "Come Thou Fount." But I think my favourite SP&P for this week is Mom's - You should really go watch the video.
Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it,
mount of thy redeeming love.
Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I’m come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.
O to grace how great a debtor
daily I’m constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for thy courts above.
Please stop by and watch that video. It will open your eyes.
Sincerely,

I hope you have enjoyed reading the thoughts and happenings of a fourteen-year-old girl from the country. "You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you!" Philippians 4:13

The Official Feelin' Feminine Site!
Most of you have heard of
Jocelyn's new site,
Feelin' Feminine. She started it so she could put all the Challenges she is going to do for her Feelin' Feminine Challenge. The goal of the site is to, "
Encourage, inspiring, and challenge young ladies to rediscover the treasure of dressing femininely modest." Sounds good to me. Look at his lovely banner Jocelyn made for it -
She used the picture of my Great Grandmother on her wedding day. Wasn't she very pretty? I have always liked that picture. And now, all the girls who wants to be feminine has it on their blogs!
Jocelyn also made this icon to put on your sidebar. There is another one too, but it doesn't have my Grandmother on it. The colours are so old-fashioned looking, aren't they? You can go to the site, Sign The Petition and Leave a Review.
You can also be on the
Feelin' Feminine Blogroll. All you have to do is fill out the form on the entry, and Jocelyn will check out your site and if she thinks you're qualified, you get the code and your name on the blogroll!
Jocelyn also has a list of
Modest Apparel Sites on there too. You can go check it out for some great modest apparel for you and your sisters.
You can also have Jocelyn put your ad on the site too, you ask her. You can also sign up to be a
Reader.
Well, anyways, I just wanted to tell you all about it. :) You can go check out any of the links you want. I'm sure you will find the site to be, well, pleasing to you. :) Jocelyn did a fantastic job on getting it set up. I love the theme and colours!
Sincerely,
I hope you have enjoyed reading the thoughts and happenings of a fourteen-year-old girl from the country. "You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you!" Philippians 4:13

Happy 18th Birthday, Sarah Dear :)
Happy 18th Birthday, Sarah Dear :)
Today is my dear friend, Sarah’s birthday. So in honour of her birthday, I am going to post a little something for her. :)
First things first, of course the birthday song -
Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!
Happy 18th Birthday Dear Sarah!
Happy birthday to you!
I wrote you a poem, Sarah. It’s not all that good, but it’s the I could do. :)

You are such a pretty girl,
With your hair all a-curl,
Your eyes are so bright,
They could bring the nightsky alight,
Your smile is so sweet,
None could could it beat.
Your gracious manner so genteel,
Like the Lillies of the Field,
You would bend over backawards to please,
You would go with sleep to ease,
You could move a mountain by your love,
That comes from Heaven above.
This is just a poem to say,
Have a happy birthday,
And know there are people out there
Who really care.
You are as colourful as these beautiful flowers you love. May you have the best of birthdays today. If I could be down there celebrating it with you, I would! But, here’s a hug from me, and I want to know that I am there with you in spirit.
I’m so glad we are friends, Sarah.
With much love,
Rachel
