~ My Current Memory Verses ~

"Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear."
Ephesians 4:29 (NASB)

"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life."
Proverbs 31:10-12 (NIV)

"She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness."
Proverbs 31:26-27 (NIV)

~ Thursday Wrap-Up ~

My daughter is helping a little more in the kitchen.  I am teaching her the importance of paying close attention and focusing on what she's doing.  She loves to help with cooking and can be very creative.  In her creative thinking, she tends to want to experiment.  That's actually a good thing.  However, I'm trying to teach her first to follow a recipe and to follow my instructions and listen to my teaching.  All very important lessons in the kitchen.  On Tuesday, she sliced up the peppers and onion for our dinner meal.  I instructed her on how to slice the peppers and onions the way I wanted them for our stir fry.  She then went to work and did a wonderful job.  Yesterday, I taught her how to make homemade bread using the bread machine.  This task is an excellent one in learning to follow a recipe closely.  You have to be sure to get the ingredients measured exactly as bread can be a fickle thing.  So we walked through the recipe with me teaching her and her actually doing a lot of it.  We made Italian Garlic Bread.  You can find the recipe for it HERE at my cooking blog.  The bread turned out wonderful!  She did an excellent job!

Our son currently works with my father as an apprentice.  My father owns his own business doing interior trim work.  Our son surprised us with two things he made all by himself.  He made me this wonderful shelf:

He also made us this little table that I think will be perfect for putting my magazines on!

I am very proud of him!

~ A Little About Us ~

The ultimate goal of Christian home education is to train children to impact the world for God. We want our children to not only hear and learn God's Word, but also be doers of God's Word. Therefore, we strive to teach them:
  1. SERVICE - How to serve God and others
  2. ACHIEVEMENT - To do the best they can in all they do from academic subjects to chores to serving others and more
  3. LOVE - To love God and one another
  4. TRUTH - To live their lives based on the absolute Truth of God
The name of this blog is the acronym for these four areas that we strive to teach our children: S.A.L.T. - Service, Achievement, Love, Truth
