Unconventionally Yours...

And since this is a HOMESCHOOLING blog....

I thought I'd update on the little Knights Morack....

Jordan is thriving!  I thought the storm and school interruptions would have us lagging behind for decades, and he'd never get to go to college and I'd be a failure and...well, you understand...

He's doing great.  We just started SOTW 2 and Prima Latina.  He's loving them both. We're very excited about studying the middle ages.

He's reading.  May I say that again?   He's reading.  Wow, that sounds so nice. It looks good on the screen, too.  :)   I'm not real sure where to go from here, but he's reading on a late second grade level.   We're growing tired of treading through Abeka readers now, though.   We've read almost all of Arnold Lobel's books.

Apologia Elementary has been an answer to prayer.  We're doing "Botany" right now, and it's lots of fun.  We'll be making a little "greenhouse" thing today, and planting some basil and herbs soon.

We're still skipping through FLL, but plan to move into Rod and Staff 3 soon.  His writing and spelling is improving in leaps and bounds.  I'm so thankful!  Phonics Pathways has been great for this.

This is impressive to me.  We've been doing second grade work for about 3 months, and that's all.  We didn't do school for nearly 6 months because of the storm.  He picked right up and is moving right through.  I think this is why they say that it's okay to delay learning.  When a child's brain is ready, it will process the desired information much quicker.

Cayden is also getting an appetite for school.  He just turned 4 in March.   We're doing Phonics Pathways, which I have come to adore and so has he.  He loves watching the Letter Factory DVD's and is getting very good at counting to 20.

I couldn't be more thankful for their resilience and their love of learning.   I'm also thankful that I have a wonderful husband who provides, so that I can take care of our family here at home.

What a blessing.
