The much anticipated, eagerly awaited, sadly overdue blog!

I know I am like at the bottom of the list when it comes to blogging.  Thank you for the reminder that it has been a year since I have blogged (you know who you are, lol!).  I have been riding the waves on the great sea of extracurricular activities and barely staying on board.  My four kids have been playing soccer (three different teams), my husband has been playing church softball, my oldest is taking art and piano, we do a homeschool co-op once a week, and my two oldest are very active on their church drama/praise team.  I joined a mountain bike team called the Krystal Chicks and have only ridden once with them.  Where do we find time to do school you ask?  Good question.  We are doing BJU HomeSat (hate it) and I am always behind on editing and recording.  I wouldn't do it because I am a unit study, literature based, classically minded homeschooler at heart, but my oldest daughter loves it.  She only has two years left at school so I am doing this for her.  Somehow I don't think my fourteen year old son is getting as much out of it since I find him often asleep during the lessons.  Maybe there is something to subliminal messages getting through to the brain when we are sleeping?  My youngest son has the attention span of a goldfish so sitting through 30 minutes of a lesson that would take him five to complete on his own is a major feat.  Oh well, I spent a fortune on books this year so we will muddle through somehow.  I have my eyes on a few unit studies for next year though.   Anyone ever use Trisms?

Dancing with God

I got this from a homeschool board and thought it was so good, I had to share!

Dancing With God

"When I meditated on the word Guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end
of the word.

I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.

When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.

The movement doesn't flow with the music,

and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,

both bodies begin to flow with the music.

One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back

Or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.

It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.

The dance takes surrender, willingness,

and attentiveness from one person

And gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by 'u" and "i."

"God, 'u" and "i" dance."

God, you, and I dance.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust

that I would get guidance about my life.

Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings

And mercies be upon you on this day and everyday.

May you abide in God as God abides in you.

Dance together with God, trusting God to lead

And to guide you through each season of your life."

Our father knows

Lately it seems everyone needs something in our house.  No one's jeans fit anymore, everyone's sleeves have shrunk and I was being reminded repeatedly.  I took this matter to my husband because I couldn't go out and buy four children a new wardrobe all at once and was letting it steal my peace.  He said "Don't let them tell you over and over.".  What an idea!  You mean I wasn't expected to listen to their complaints all day?  Then I remembered something.  My list was pretty long of all the things I "needed".  The verse in Mathew came to mind about how our heavenly father knows what we need before we even ask.  I knew my kids could use some new clothes, so it wasn't something they ask.  I was already planning on meeting that need before they said a word. God also knows my needs and already has a plan to meet that need.  Just like my children need to trust us as parents to meet their needs, I learned a lesson in trusting my Father to meet mine.  I didn't realize about how much complaining I had beeen doing.  I wasn't trusting, I was trying to find a way to meet my own needs.  I need to be a little more like the birds and spend more time singing and less time worrying.
