This past weekend we took our boat out. We have to pass under a railroad bridge to get to open water, and our boat takes almost 12 feet of clearance... we didn't know if we had enough so we thought we better take the canopy down to go through. Now, we know it comes down, but we had no idea how to get it down... I hope that no one near by was falling off their boats laughing at us! It had to have been pretty funny. We went almost into the bay and then put out anchor for the rest of the afternoon. Dave and Julia were fishing and crabbing, but didn't get anything. Julia did enjoy a swim but the water is already cooling down so it will most likely be the last time for this year for swimming. Julia did catch 3 catfish at the marina on Sunday morning(or maybe it was the same one over and over...) ...she was absolutely thrilled! I took a pic but must have did it wrong because it is not on my phone now. Sunday one of the previous owners of the boat came by and gave us lesson on putting canopy down... it takes like 15 seconds now as compared to the 15 minutes or more before ..haha... it does always help to have the instructions! On the homeschooling front.... Julia is doing time in her math book right now and she seems to have picked that up in no time. She has one of her sister's old watches which seems to be keeping time well right now and she is always telling us what time it is. Jane is enjoying reading Far from the Madding Crowd for her British Lit. Class and she is really enjoying her accounting for math this year. Her new job at a grocery store is working out well so far. Last week was fair week in our town. We enjoyed the parade and walking around the fair looking at all the animals. Julia's said her favorite animals were the bunnies. |

Wow, it has been awhile since I posted.... I always mean to post again soon... life just gets busy. On the schoolfront, the books I ordered for Jane did come on the first day of school. We are getting into our school routine and things are moving along ok. The co-op class Jane is taking this year is British Literature, and so far it is going well. She got a good score on her first paper so she was pretty happy about that. Julia is moving along with her work, and is really enjoying the co-op classes that she is in. She has science (studying Birds), art, gym, and people of the world. It is every other week for her class. Julia had her birthday on Sept 11. She is 6 years old now. That time sure did fly by. It is hard to believe she is 6. I asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday, and she said she wanted to have a creek party. We invited 6 children for an hour of playing in the creek, catching craefish, building dams, floating toy sailboats and looking for shells and rocks. We tossed out some blue star shaped decorative rocks and Julia tossed out her sea shell collections from this summer into the creek for everyone to treasure hunt in the creek. They all had a great time and would have loved to stay for another hour in the creek, but school night so we had to move on to the cake and icecream before they had to leave. It went well and Julia had a nice birthday and received some nice gifts. Although I never heard of a creek party for a birthday party, Julia had a good idea that was a big hit with her friends. We have been to the boat most weekends, and we have had it out of the dock and it is a lot of fun. This past weekend, I took the girls to use our free Hershey Park Tickets. It was drizzly, cloudy yucky looking in the morning when we left, but it cleared out and was a nice day. We took the tour of Chocolate World first, the chocolate smelled yummy! Then we went into the park. I guess because of the weather and being there first thing in the morning, there was not a long wait for rides most of the morning. Some rides Julia did not even have to get off but just stayed on and rode over and over. She liked each thing and wanted to ride it again and again. We watched the sea lion show which she was thrilled with, and went through zoo america. Jane and her friend rode the big rides and also met up with us to take Julia on some of the rides that she needed accompanied on. I think they all had a nice day and were tired by the time we returned home.
