Valentines Day

Posted in Pictures
Well, My dad was not able to be here on Valentines, but yesterday morning when mom got up, she found 30 roses and a box of Ferro Rocher chocolates. She was SO surprised :) she said that a "little bird" brought them (my brother) and my brother actually bought the flowers and some ribbon, found one of our vases, and arranged them :) here are some pictures I took of the roses.

Happy Valentines Day All!
Love,

Well that's all, I will put some more up later,
Debra

Ps. Be sure and read all the way to the end of this post.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.   ONCE YOU READ THIS YOU WILL UNDERSTAND!

A young man learns what's most important in life from the guy next door.

It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College, girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams. There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his future, and nothing could stop him.

Over the phone, his mother told him, 'Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday.' Memories flashed through his mind like an old news reel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

'Jack, did you hear me?'

'Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago,' Jack said.

'Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his side of the fence' as he put it,' Mom told him.

'I loved that old house he lived in,' Jack said.

'You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man's influence in your life,' she said

'He's the one who taught me carpentry,' he said. 'I wouldn't be in this business if it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things he thought were important...Mom, I'll be there for the funeral,' Jack said.

As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away.

The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old house next door one more time.

Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time. The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of furniture....Jack stoppe d suddenly.

'What's wrong, Jack?' his Mom asked.

'The box is gone,' he said

'What box?' Mom asked.

'There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell me was 'the thing I value most,'' Jack said.

It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remember e d it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.

'Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him,' Jack said. 'I better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom.'

It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died. Returning home from work one day Jack discovered a note in his mail box 'Signature required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post office within the next three days,' the note read.

Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his attention. 'Mr. Harold Belser' it read. Jack took the box out to his car and  ripped open the package. There inside was the gold box and an envelope. Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.

'Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life.' A small key was taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful gold pocket watch.

Running his fingers slowly  over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the cover. Inside he found these words engraved:  'Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser.'

'The thing he valued most was...my time'

Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared his appointments for the next two days. 'Why?' Janet, his assistant asked.

'I need some time to spend with my son,' he said.

'Oh, by the way, Janet, thanks for your time!

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.

Think about this. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1 At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.< I>
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. A smile from you ca n bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
4. Everynight, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
5. You mean the world to someone.
6. If not for you, someone may not be living.
7. You are special and unique.
8. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you trust God to do what's best, and wait on His time, sooner or later, you will get it or something better.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still come from it.
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.
11. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
12. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
13. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know and you'll both be happy.
14 .. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.
Send this letter to all the people you care about, if you do so, you will certainly brighten someone's day and might change their perspective on life...for the better.

Christmas

Well, we have been listening to Christmas music since before Thanksgiving (didn't that used to be "illegal"?) but just tonight on our way home from a church thing, we started a funny rendition of 'Jingle Bells" and so when I got home I looked it up so I thought I would share :P

this is the jingle bells that we were singing in the car:
Jingle Bells
Batman smells
Robin laid an egg
Batmobille has lost a wheel
and Joker got away
Hey!...
My 6 year old sister thought that was pretty funny :)

and here is a funny one that I found on the internet::
Gliding through the Snow,
On a pair of Broken Skis,
Over the snow we go,
Crashing into trees!
The snow is turning red,
I think I'm almost dead,
But now I'm in the Hospital Bed
With Stitches in my head!

my sisters and I were singing that song while skipping through the house and mom said "you guys are crazy!" which of course, us already laughing because of how silly we were acting were already laughing, started laughing even harder... anyway now I have almost no voice :) at least it was fun! lol

and here is a rendition of "we three kings" that I have known forever:
We three kings of oil and tar,
Smoking on a rubber cigar,
It was loaded and exploded,
And the three kings were no more.

well I'm done talking now, so you guys can share any funny christmas songs that you know!

Arizona

well, I am in Arizona. and I would post some pics, but I forgot a camera.... not good. but I got up at 4:00 AM this morning, that was an adventure in and of itself and were to the airport by 4:35 we got on the plane at 5:30, and were to Huston, Texas by 9:00. we were there for around an hour, and were back in the air by 10:00. we touched down in Arizona around 12:30 My time (it is two hours later in Arizona.) and we got picked up by my Aunt Tracy, had a little detour (don't you just love those? ^_^) on the way to her house, and arrived here safely at 12:15(Arizona time) so, today was fun, and now I feel like going to sleep for the night:)
but i wont, because, you know, it's like only 12:30 so, that would be weird.
Anyway, I think that I will go get something to eat.

Well, Chris and Nathaniel both tagge me with this so, here goes

Rules: Every time you are tagged you must add 2 lines to the story.

Once upon a time there was an awesome guitarist named Gary. Gary was amazing, he could play any song you can think of. Well, like any awesome guitarist Gary started a band called Gary's Band. After a while they weren't getting any gig and such until one day they got a phone call. It was a friend of Matt Thiessen from Relient K who had heard them one time when Gary's band was playing at a youth function. They were blown away when he told them that he thought they were good enough to go on tour with the group. With the guys in Gary's band ecstatic to be playing with such an awesome group as Relient K, they packed up and took off to California. While on the way to California it began to rain heavily. Gary began to worry they wouldn't make it to California to play! So they just sat, somberly, looking out of the windows. Then things started to get worse.  Relient K decided that they would rather fish in Hawaii for the rest of their lives and broke up! But then Switchfoot called and said that they could tour with them! So Relient K got back together and met up with Switchfoot. They Went Arround the world and had the ultimate tour.

I am going to tag SouthernBelle, ElizabethBennet, soccergal and ForeverConfused.

Common Sense

I found this on  www.thesourcedaily.com and thought You might like to read it.

By Author Unknown

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who had been with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.  He
will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable
lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
Why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn’t always fair;
and Maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies
(don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable
strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-
intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in
place.  Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual
harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended
from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a
teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only
worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked
teachers for doing the job that they themselves had
failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.  He
declined even further when schools were required to
get parental consent to administer Tylenol, sun lotion,
or a Band-Aid to a student, but could not inform parents
when a student became pregnant and wanted to have
an abortion.

Common Sense took a beating as the Ten Commandments
became contraband, churches became businesses, and
criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense lost the will to live when you couldn’t
defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and
the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the ghost, after a woman
failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot.
She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded
a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents,
Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter,
Responsibility; and his son, Reason.

He is survived by his three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights,
Someone Else Is to Blame, and I’m a Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized
that he was gone.

Debra
