Sunday, August 20, 2006 - New Bible Quilt Group
Hi Ladies! Thank you so much for all your kind words regarding my work in progress. Many of you have asked where I get the block ideas and such. There is a Christian quilting gal who leads a study on a yahoo group, and there is a new group starting in September. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WomenoftheBibleQuilt/
She posts quilt block ideas to go along with the weekly devotions in Women of the Bible: A One Year Devotional Study of Women in Scripture by Ann Spangler & Jean Syswerda. You can purchase a book of patterns from the moderator of the group, or come up with your own. Most of the times I use her suggestions, and choose colors and/or prints that have meaning to me, and other times I chose to do different blocks all together.
This is a great group for those first time quilters, as there are many experienced quilters ready to help you along in the process. I've made patchwork quilts and quilts from pre-made panels before, but this is my first attempt at a quilt with pieced blocks. So I'm shocked and flattered that y'all find my work worth complimenting.:-) But if I can do it, y'all can too!
If you decide to join the group and start your own Women of the Bible quilt, I'd love to see your blocks!

Thank you so much for sharing the information with me. That's my next cyber-stop - to check further into joining the next round.
I go to International Quilt Market in Houston each year, but sadly this will the the final year, as my mom is closing her shop. Anyway, their are pictures from last year's Market at the following links if you'd like a little inspiration!

Lovely quilt blocks. Kudos to you. (I attended a quilting class, but decided it was too detailed for me right now--maybe later in life I'll try again.) I love your list of books as well. We enjoyed Click, Clack, Moo for the first time several years ago. We have also read some of the others you posted.

I quickly popped over here since I love to quilt, though I rarely have the time. =( A couple of weeks ago I went to a quilt show and saw a Ladies of the Bible Quilt. That was so neat. I blogged about friendship and quilts, since I a on-line friend and I finally got to meet there. I'm going to have to check out your Days of Creation Quilt.
Blessings,
Laurie
