Ok... so Mom started this new meme, Saturday Psalm and Praise.
1. Post a blog (on your blog) about a favorite Psalm, Hymn or Worship Chorus or one that has spoken to you in the past week. The only qualification is that whatever you choose has to be in praise of God. In other words, I would like to see Psalms and songs that are not all about me, the worshiper. I have heard too many songs in recent years sung about me, my problems, my worship, etc. I want this to be directed to God and His Son, Jesus. That is who we are to worship, and I think we need to make sure our hearts are set in that direction, not just all about how I want to do this or how I am this because of that. Make sense?
Truly, we all have to work it out for ourselves, and you need to make it yours. Just bring it to God for His glory. I want this to be an offering to Him.
2. You may just blog the Psalm/song or you can tell what impact is has had on you and your thoughts. Sometimes just the Psalm is enough. Sometimes we have to let out our own words of praise!
3. Oh, and link the original post, too! Then make sure to leave a comment to let me know you are participating!
One of my fave hymns is "Amazing Grace". It just speaks volumes to me. I am a sinful creature, a wretch and yet Christ gave HIS life for me, so I might have "Amazing Grace".
Do I even deserve Grace?? No. The definition of Grace is "The free unmerited love and favor of God." Who I am to deserve it?? No one. But Christ loved me so much, even all the stupid, ignorant, dumb, disobedient, hateful, mean, sinful, and horrible things I have done, that he gave me his Grace, so that I may one day join him in his heaven to worship him.
He gave us all this "Amazing Grace". It is there for you. No matter what you have done. He will always be ready to give it to you. There is no sin to great that God won't forgive and give "Amazing Grace" for.
Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now am found. Was blind, but now I see.
Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear and Grace my fear relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come.
Tis Grace has lead me thus this far, and Grace will lead me home.
When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as a star.
We've no less days to sing God's praise then when we first begun.
I have committed that song to memory. I know it by heart. I sometimes just break out singing it. Whenever Caleb or Lucy get fussy, I always break out in that song as it calms them and they so love it. We have been singing other songs lately too, but that will have to wait til next week. ;0)
Won't you join us next week??
