We watched "The New World" the other nite and let me tell you: DO NOT SEE IT! It did not come close to the true story of Pocahontas. It was so fictional. It was like a 70’s art movie. They had weird camera shots, they didn’t really even talk in full sentences, it was like really weird. The way they made it was really bad. There really wasn’t a story line.
I actually got lost trying to figure out what exactly was going on. I normally don’t have that problem, I can follow most movies.
I got so mad watching it though. They portrayed her as a girl who fell madly in love with 2 men. They had it so she was madly in love with John Smith, when there really was no relationship like that between them. They gave the impression that she was pregnant!
All I could think while watching besides," when will it be over." was "I am so happy I didn’t go to the theater to see this." Because it had come to the local theater and I had said something about wanting to see it, but apparently God knew better.
So here is a bad review of "The New World" by New Line Cinema.
As Ebert and Roper would say, "I give it a THUMBS DOWN!"
I will be reflecting (posting) about something actually GOOD that I gleaned from this example of bad movie making and twisting of a historical, Godly story.
Be sure to look for it! It will be entitled: Fiction or Non-Fiction- Which are you?
