Well.... today we chipped the hard, maple candy out of the bottom of the jar, admitting that SOMETHING went terribly wrong with our rock candy. Not one to be beaten by sugar and water, we've set it up again -- this time with peppermint flavouring! We'll see how it goes this time... now it's the "wait and see" stage...

What can go wrong with rock candy? I'm sure I could find something to make it go wrong too! I should try making that sometime, they sell it at the Sutler's Store at the historic fort we go to sometimes, but a dollar a piece? for crystalized sugar on a stick or a string?
Well, I hope the mint version works out, sounds wonderful, I LOVE mint anything...

our rock candy was a failure last Spring. I think it's finicky candy. Maybe we should try again...with mint!

I never could get that to work either!
Have you ever made a "coal garden?" I think you use ammonia and bluing poured over coal. I LOVED that project as a child. I haven't done it with my current younger set-will have to soon!
