Making connections
|
I haven't been very structured in my
schooling this week. We seem to be doing whatever we find
interesting at the time which is FINE by me. I've actually
scrapped the whole Letter of the week curriculum because Jules was
getting bored with it so we are basically just learning whatever we
want. The other day we got out a white board marker and a wipe
off book that has pages to practice printing letters. I let her
just take the lead, she would color some of the pictures and then she
would trace some of the letters and we would talk about them and what
words started with them and stuff. then yesterday I decided to
teach her how to print the letter E and it's sounds. She caught
on REALLY well and was printing the E's with no instruction from me at
all.. She just looked at my example. Then we talked about
the words that start with E so she would print the E and I would spell
the rest of the words for her. She thought that was great fun.
Then she wanted to do the letter A and then the letter T so i took that
opportunity to show her that A and T spelled "at" and she was so
surprised. She called it her very special word. ROFL.
Then she wanted to practice spelling her name. SHe
did so well that I decided to take a picture. Writing her name completely wiped her out so she decided to color some pictures. She usually just makes stick figures but she had made her face and made a mistake and put two legs from the head and so she was upset cuz she didn't do it right so I showed her how to make it into a shirt and now that's how she makes her people. It's cute. Anyway.. she drew one picture that I just loved and had to take a picture of it. I just laughed when she showed Jeff cuz well.. i'll post the picture.... The figure on the far left is Me, the one on the far right is Julianna and the one in the middle is DADDY with TOBY in his TUMMY!!!! ROFL Oh my gosh did I laugh at that one.. Jeff was really surprised but couldn't help but laugh. When we asked what the small circle above daddy was and she said "oh that's just a little peach!" ROFL.. I don't think she really knows what a peach is! LOL Anyway.. I love how creative she is getting... Here's another picture... (that sun looking thing is really a spider!) So anyway, today at lunch Jules was having spagetti and a piece of bread and as she was eating the bread she said Hey mom! This looks like an L!! Wow I love it when she makes connections like that! We havent' even talked about the letter L! ANYWAY..... Toby's birthday is coming up in two weeks so I've been working on his birthday invitations. We will be doing a rubber ducky theme. So his invitations will be rubber duckies and inside will be this picture... I went to the bathroom earlier and came out and saw Julianna eating a cracker, and I growled at her for going into the cupboard and getting crackers without asking me (mainly don't like this cuz she gives them to Toby and toby makes a mess with them) Anyway, She had given Toby some and he was still in the kitchen. A few minutes later I hear him in the kitchen saying "JULIANNNNNNNA" "CRACKKKKER" and I look over and there he is walking sooo slowly with cautious steps with the CRACKER box in his hands! ROFL!! He was fully expecting Jules to give him another cracker! hmm what else was I going to say... I started this post a couple hours ago but had to keep coming back to it.... hmmmm.... Oh well.. i guess whatever I had to say wasn't too important.... OH, Amazon has shipped my order so hopefully we will have some new goodies to look at soon!! Yesterday I figured out how to fix the gate so Toby can't open it. Only thing is, it's hard to lock again so I'll have to help Jules lock it up again when she needs help. At least she can open it. Anyway... Jeff will be home for lunch any minute.. and Toby is trying to drink my HUGE bottle of water (77 oz) and getting frustrated that he can't lift it! Better go... |
