Santa Claus???
We don't really do Santa Claus here. We decided to celebrate st. nicholas day instead so that Christmas can be all about Jesus.  We also didn't feel right about telling our kids that santa claus was real when he isn't really.   Jules knows he is just pretend and all that. We tell her that other people believe he's real though so she has to pretend too. Well, she's been having a hard time getting that concept and this old guy that hangs out at my dad's asked her one day what santa claus was bringing her and she looked at him in shock like he should have known better and said "santa claus is not real!"   soooo I had to tell her that if anyone ever asks her that again, she should tell them what she wants for christmas. She is doing really well with it now thoughwe had that  meeting on saturday morning and one of the ladies asked her what santa was bringing her and she said a doll and then the lady asked her if she wrote her letter to santa yet (Jules has never heard of doing that!) and Jules was scribbling out some letters at the time and she said "i'm writing it right now! this is it!!"

Dec. 19, 2006 - Santa

We were told there was no Santa growing up and it didn't bother us, Mom didn't want to lie to us or ubstruct the true meaning of Christmas, and we had better Christmas' with more meaning than most people we knew, not to mention we hardly got anything for Christmas but Mom gave us what most parents can't give thier children today and that was TIME! She was an on the floor playing with us kinda MOM we had the fastest crazy carpets in the neighborhood even if they were cardboard and who says balogna can't taste like steak!!! My Christmas' were not about Santa at all they were about Jesus and Love and we had both. I remember one Christmas having someone come to our door with a box full of food for us for Christmas and how we prayed such thanks to God for providing for us. I worked hard shoveling driveways for a buck a pop and when I had enough I went to the store and bought my Mom a little ornament and to this day she still has it. Tash I think what you are doing is great.

Poor Little Mermaid. Her facial expressions are classic! Poor little girl.

We don't do SC either. And this is the first year that we have had to worry about not "ruining" it for others. Really, I didn't want other parents to be mad at Cameron for telling the truth. LOL

He was told if he was asked a direct question about SC to just ignore the person and try to change the subject. Most little kids that would ask wouldn't notice that he evaded the question. LOL
