Poetry...
Posted on Jun. 17, 2006 at 5:26 PM in Poems, Stories and Riddles - Leave a Note
I love poetry! I love to write it, I love to read it. My favorite’s to write are ballad’s (which is basically a story with a certain rhyming scheme). To read, I usually like almost any form as long as it rhymes and I can understand most of it, but my favorites would have to stories and hymns. Most of the poems I have written pertain to real life, whether from my life or the life of Christ. The best poem I ever wrote was called “Jesus Life From His Mother’s Perspective”. It is all about the life of Jesus and is written as if in the words of His mother Mary. It is 51 stanzas long!
Here are a couple poems I have written. They are not nearly as long as 51 stanzas, but I like them and I hope you do too.
Outside the Window
As I look outside the window, What is there to see? A rosebush with yellow blooms, A finch eating restlessly.
He eats a seed Then stops and stares So danger cannot come On him unawares.
Now some sparrows Join in on the scene. Perhaps they will sit, And peck their feathers clean.
Now the scene is changed again And I know it will change some more. And because it is always different The scenes outside the window, I cannot ignore.
Mary had a little baby, In a stable He was born. Strips of cloth for Him were clothes. Later He lived, He died and from the dead arose.
Lastly I thought I would also include a riddle I wrote in rhyme. The answer is at the very bottom!
An Easy Riddle
Hello! Would you like to Know who I am? Am I a cat, a wolf, A parrot or a ram?
Well actually I am Not any of those. I have two bright eyes And one great big nose.
I have spots on my back And my tail and my head. I come in all colors From black, white to red.
We originated in England, Though where we got our name, I’m really not sure - But for us all it’s the same.
We really love to hunt - Especially rabbit! We always keep our nose to the ground - It’s just a habit!
We’ll eat about anything From rocks to seeds - From lemons to apples - From shoes to weeds.
We have plenty of energy. We’ll gladly play chase - But watch out for me Or you might fall on your face! Now that I’ve given you Some clues who I am, I have one last question - Am I a lamb?
If you say I am not, I won’t say your wrong. I best stop this poem Before it’s too long.
Can you guess who I am?
