Jane Eyre - A Movie Review

Posted on Aug. 3, 2007 at 11:13 PM

I had the privilege of watching the movie: Jane Eyre.

Jane Eyre is based off of a novel of the same name by Charlotte Bronte. (A book I have never read.)

Jane Eyre was filmed on location in England. The movie was filmed in 1997. It was produced by London Weekend Television and A&E Television Networks. The screenplay was written by Kay Mellor. The director of the movie was Robert Young. Samantha Morton plays Jane Eyre opposite Ciarin Hinds as Mr. Rochester. The movie is about 108 minutes long.

Jane Eyre is about a young lady who at a early age was orphaned and mistreated. She obtains a position as a governess where she falls in love and becomes engaged. All seems full of joy for her as her wedding day dawns but suddenly a dark secret is unearthed and threatens to destroy all her happiness. This movie begins rather confusing and very sad but improves as it goes along. It is very well acted.

I would not recommend this movie for young children. One of the characters reveals an ugly past life of sin without showing any regret for it.

I would recommend this movie to adults, both young and old.

Things I Am Reading...

I thought I would post the things I am reading, like I did a few months back. I love to read and am always in the middle of more then one book at a time. Here is my list:

The Book of Exodus ( I just finished the Book of Genesis!)

Making Brother’s and Sister’s Best Friends by Sarah, Steven and Grace Malley ( I am going through this book VERY slowly)

So Much More by Anna Sofia and Elizabeth Botkin ( This book is especially written to young women ranging from ages fourteen through their twenties. I find it very intearesting and inspiriting.)

Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig ( It is going to take me a long time to get through this one. I have tried a few recipes and really like them.)

The Chronology of the Old Testament by Dr. Floyd Nolen Jones ( This book puts the Bible history into a “standard” chronology. By using the Bible it counts back to the date of Creation, David’s reign, etc…)

What the Bible is All About Bible Handbook by Dr. Henrietta C. Mears ( This book takes each book of the Bible and helps you see things in it such as “types” from the Old Testament and the New. I am reading it for school.)

Ancient Egypt by Various Authors, David P. Silverman General Editor ( I am reading this book partly for school, partly for pleasure because I like to learn about ancient civilizations.)

The Works of Josephus by Flavius Josephus ( I really like reading this. I am using it as a supplement for my schoolwork. We are using Tapestry of Grace and it puts biblical history in  (mostly) chronological order with other history. It is very interesting.)

I love to read! I love to read so much that I am often in the middle of several books at one time! For fun I thought I would put down a list of things that I am reading right now.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (I love the movies based off this book and so far I love the book even more!)

Making Brother’s and Sister’s Best Friends by Sarah, Steven and Grace Mally (I really like this book)

Is There Life After Housework? by Don Asslett (This book has a lot of practical tips on doing housework faster and more efficiently)

Christie’s Christmas by Isabella Alden (I am reading this to my three younger sisters and they are loving it!)

Answers Magazine (A publication of

Answers in Genesis. It helps equip people to defend their faith when confronted with “Millions of years” and “Evolution”.)

The Works of Josephus by Flavius Josephus (I read bits and pieces of this at different times.)

My Bible (This of course is the most important and I am never through reading it!
)
