Wordless Wednesday - Hurricane Highlights

Troy bought me a new i-Phone to check in on The Homeschool  Lounge since we had no idea when we would get power back. Our cell phones were not working so we switched to At&T
 I love this thing!

Wordless (or not so wordless) Wednesday - Hurricane Gustav!

This will not be Wordless unless you turn down your volume and you might want to do that anyway so I don't blow your ears out! LOL Not to mention I sound like such a nut on these things, everyone has had great enjoyment from these videos at my expense. We lost power while I recorded the first one too! You can tell I am a little nervous, the boys did not skip a beat, you can hear Micah saying "What are you doing, what are you doing?? All they cared about was being fed! LOL

The second one is the best as I forgot to turn off the camera and Troy and I just start up a conversation while its recording. ROFLOL Actually the quality of my camera video is horrible but it is actually worth listening to to here me rambling on like a big dork!

Hello ~ Im checking in after hurricane Gustav!

We are all doing well and we are OK! Thank you all so much for your prayers and comments throughout the hurricane and after.

We got hit much harder then we had anticipated, we did not think Gustav would come directly for us and well it did! LOL

We have been without power now for 7 days, what an adventure it has been.

I have so much to share including videos during and after the hurricane passed over us.

Trees and power lines are down everywhere and believe it or not electricity has only been restored to about 60% of the million folks that lost power. Please keep praying that power gets restored completely. They are saying it will be another 3 weeks before all have power back. (Unimaginable)

I do not think the media has shared just how bad it has been down here since it was not another Katrina incident but things have been pretty bad.

I promise to share more tonight or tomorrow. Lots to share, God is soooo good and protected us from this storm before during and after!

(Please don't forget to continue to pray for Marsha and her family  and hug your babies a little tighter today!!! )

P.S. Please pray that Hurricane  IKE takes a hike from Louisiana!!! We can not take another storm right now!!!

Happy Independence Day!

We are going to a family BBQ / Picnic at Troys Grandmothers home "Mami" the boys will have lots of cousins to play with.   I spent today with Troys Grandmother and her sister, her sister was in a horrible car accident and is in a rehabilitation center for 3 months. I will most likely start taking "Mami" to see her once a week. I am looking forward to it; I enjoy sitting and talking with them more then anything. I learn so much from them about raising a large family, cooking, homekeeping and being a good and faithful wife to my husband. (Which isn't always easy to do, my mouth can often get me into trouble) We are praying that Mami's sister (Auntie Ciola) will heal quickly and be released before the 3 months.

I pray you all have a fun, safe and blessed Independence day with your family and friends!

 

We gather ‘round to celebrate
On Independence Day
Pay homage to our country
As the children run and play.

With barbecues and picnics
And fireworks in the air
The flag we own is proudly flown
To show how much we care.

The stars and stripes spell freedom
She waves upon the breeze
While bursts of colors can be seen
Above the towering trees.

This is all quite wonderful
We revel in delight
But God above in divine love
Has brought this day to light.

With just a stroke of liberty
A touch of His great hand
He gave democracy to us
And helped this country stand.

The stripes upon our stately flag
Were touched by His sweet grace
Each star of white that shines so bright
Reflects His loving face.

So as you turn to face the flag
For battles that were fought
Be filled with pride for those who died
And freedoms that were bought.

But don’t forget to thank the One
That gives the bright display
The reason why we paint the sky
On Independence Day
