Under His Construction

• Feb. 3, 2007 - Overheard recently....

A public school elementary teacher was overheard telling her students that she believes that you can make anything happen if you firmly believe it will!. What fallacy there is in this "power of positive thinking" logic! If this were true then when I am out of milk I could say "I firmly believe there will be milk in this refrigerator when I open it" and 'poof' there it would be.  I could say 'tomorrow it will be sunny" and of course it would be, right? Wait though, what about the farmer down the road who firmly believes it will rain on his crops tomorrow- who wins?   The problem is that this philosophy is not based on objective truth but rather subjective thinking.  We shouldn't adopt a philosophy based on how well we like it, but rather on whether or not it is based on truth.  This teacher also went on to tell her students that they were the best 6th grade class in the state.  Does believing this make it true? Well what do the statistics show? Is this the only fallacy the children of this nation are being taught to believe? Absolutely not! We live in a world where people (Christians also!) grab hold of whatever beliefs suit them and truth is believed to be relative and public school teachers are not excluded from this. So why are 90% of Christians still sending their children to the public school?  Could it be that they have a different set of priorities than God does for their children? Do they believe these false teachings will not affect their children if they really believe it hard enough? What are their main goals for their children? To live the American Dream?

"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"  Mark 8:32

Thank you Lord for allowing me to live in a country and home where I am able to homeschool my children, protecting them from these false doctrines that are being taught to children all over this world.  Thank you for founding us on the truth of Your Word so that we can recognize these fallacies for what they are!
