has always had an amazing imagination. Ever since he began talking he has had an amazing imagination. This has been the source of much entertainment for my grandparents over the years. My grandpa tells these stories again and again to all willing listeners.
One day we were visiting them and Garrett decided he wanted to go out to Papa Cookie's shop and help him work - so grandpa let him play around out there while he made something amazing out of wood (He's very talented). About 20 minutes later Garrett came in to use the potty and Grandpa was following him with a huge grin and his face while holding out his hand holding some imaginary object. Apparently Garrett was pretending he was eating a sandwich and did not want it to get dirty while he went potty!
On another occasion while visiting Grandma and Papa Cookie's house Garrett had brought along his imaginary friend Dylan. Grandma and Papa were out of cookies but had just bought a brand new bag of licorice to share with the kids. Well the wheels were turning in little Garrett's head and he quickly realized that he could use this whole imaginary friend thing to his advantage. "Papa," he said "can my friend Dylan have some licorice too?" Grandpa laughed and gave Garrett a couple of extra pieces for Dylan. We all began visiting again but were watching Garrett very closely. He placed the extra pieces on the ground beside him and about 5 minutes later he picked one up and began eating it. I asked him what he was doing eating Dylan's candy and he said 'Oh he didn't want it!" Grandpa howled with laughter! |
