We have been having a lovely time homeschooling this year. Despite the learning curve of both the technological aspects as well as the academic, the kids and I are very much enjoying our new season of homeschooling.
My son seems to thrive with the regularity and routine of using a structured curriculum. He is able to have certain daily learning routines repeated in a way that was challenging for me to organize when I was not following a structured curriculum.
Alyssa also loves her BJU K4 curriculum and usually asks to do more than one day's worth at a time. Chase looks forward to homeschooling every day and insists on doing every subject every day.
I hope to spend some time on this blog discussing the merits of traditional Christian homeschooling. I have certainly refined my views on this subject since I first started homeschooling only a few years ago.
For me, it was in part my own pride and rebellious spirit that led me to reject traditional textbook learning, not thorough research of exactly what was involved in that kind of curriculum.
The BJU HomeSat provides very solid learning experiences along with many hands-on experiences, excellent literature and a Christian worldview woven throughout.
Stay with me and follow how we proceed in our homeschooling journey!
We, too, had been convinced that to use textbooks was not true "homeschooling," but we have been enjoying HomeSat for three years now, this being our fourth. It was an answer to prayer. My children thrive, love the lessons, and have some independence so I can work with them on the subjects I do teach.
Come with me as I find my way in the world of homeschooling and raising young children for the Kingdom of God. I will share my heartfelt prayers and inspirational images for your journey. May this blog, as all that I do, be for the glory of God alone. Soli Deo Gloria!
