Lazy Daze
Yesterday and today have been demed 'Lazy Days'. Yesterday morning I woke up with a backache (apparently I slept on my stomach all night lol) and I could barely move. It's better today but I'm still having trouble standing from a seated position. So...Aaron's basically running amok LOL Nah, he's really helpful. Fetching things, taking the dogs out, offering to bring me a PB&J ...
We're mentally preparing to move, but still waiting to hear how much the Doggie Deposit will be. The house we're living in is owned by my mother and is in dire need of repair (electrical and structural). She was going to have it torn down when we move, but my brother has bought it and plans to fix it up and turn it into an office/studio for his business. Good for him, I say. =)
This morning we dropped off our dog, Weezle, at the vet for her annual teeth cleaning and to have her spayed. She's already had 2 litters (3 pups per litter) and I don't want any more! Her first litter was 2 males, Rascal and Pokey, and a female, Snoopy. We gave Rascal away and Snoopy was hit by a car last fall. Weezle's newest creations are all males, Rex, Spaz, and Louie. We gave Rex to my best friend Kelly...which leaves us with Weezle, Pokey, Spaz and Louie. 4 DOGS!!! Ugh! LOL I love 'em all, but it's too many...especially with two loud boys (or should I say 3?) and a baby on the way.
Speaking of baby ...lots of movement lately, especially when I eat. I'm nearly 18 weeks and I don't remember my others moving this much, this early. Maybe it's just my imagination...stranger things have happened. I have an appointment with my midwife on the 22nd and I'm going to try to talk her into another ultrasound to know the sex and for some pics. My first was a surprise...and my second was a girl until two weeks before delivery LOL I'm a compulsive list maker, and I need to know!
Welp, it's about lunch time and Aaron's already started munching on carrots.. time to wander towards the kitchen. =)

Layout Issues
Welp, I've been tinkering today with my layout. I used to be really good with PSP ...but I've really not had the time to keep up with it. Plus I have an old version (7.4) ...so some of the tutorials I can't follow LOL Perhaps I'll receive a newer version for Mother's Day (Brian if you're reading this, yes, Sweetie, that's a hint! *wink*)
It's been a while since I've done any html so if anyone spots a booboo (broken links, etc.) let me know!

Aaron's lunchtime experiment
I have always loved to experiment in the kitchen, and apparently I have passed that on because today, Aaron took the reigns at lunchtime (with my supervision). I have a budding Chef in my midst! Here is Aaron's made up recipe for today.
Mushroomy Noodle Lunch!
Ingredients:
1 can of mushroom soup
1 can of milk
1 can of water
1/4 bag of frozen peas
1/4 bag of frozen carrots
1 cup of uncooked macaroni
Directions:
Empty can of mushroom soup in a medium sauce pan. Use the soup can to measure milk and water. Add frozen peas and carrots. Stir well! (Aaron's favorite part) Slowly bring to a simmer then add macaroni. Stir often or macaroni will stick lol :) Simmer until macaroni is fork tender and enjoy! We had this with garlic toast (buttered bread with a dash of garlic salt under the broiler)
**If this were my concoction, I would've used a can of crushed tomatoes or a can of tomato soup...but Aa loves mushroom soup (a staple in our house since he was 2 LOL) and it was his call!

School is back in session!
It's been a while since I've been able to post, and we're finally getting back to some sort of schedule. Feb. 11th Aaron had to have emergency surgery to remove his appendix.
Funny how I knew something was wrong with my child, but 2 ER "doctors" told me it was just a common virus. On our third ER visit in 6 days the doctor, a former ped, did a CatScan and Xrays (only because Aa was doubled over and screaming in pain). The CatScan showed that his appendix had ruptured and he had an abscess the size of a baseball. What little fat he had, had formed a barrier around the abscess and thank God it was somewhat contained.
Because of the abscess the surgeon had to make his incision vertically, starting just under Aa's belly button. He stitched the fascia completely (dissolvable) but the outside was held with only 3 stitches almost an inch apart to allow for drainage. The first time they had to change his bandage I had to turn away. He was crying ...well more like screaming and every time he exhaled a tea colored liquid was draining out, which made him cry even harder.
Amazingly enough, Aa was only in the hospital from the 10th to the 15th. He has an appointment at the Wound Care center this comming Monday, but other than that he is right at 98%. The incision has nearly closed and he's back to his old self again.. albeit a bit more cautious about running and jumping.
Before this, I had never been the Mother of a sickly child. None of my children have ever had anything more serious than a cold or the flu. If anything, this has brought me closer to my children, especially Aa. I have always believed that my children were precious, but they were sturdy and healthy, and to see one of my own lying in a bed too frail to speak... it was truly heartbreaking.
On to better news, the past 2 weeks have been amazing. As he was getting better, Aa has kept a great attitude about homeschooling. He's great at helping to keep me organized! We have talked more, made a few "School Rules", as well as set up a comfortable schedule that works for both of us. I never would have thought that a kid who hates to clean his room would be such an organizational whiz. I am truly blessed =)
Hope everyone has a great weekend! =)

What a day..
...and it's barely half over! To say Aa is under the weather would be a gross understatement. For the past 3 days he's 'been making poop soup' (his words not mine!), and at 3:30 am this morning the vomiting started. What a change.
He is usually full of energy, questions, ideas, and thoughts. But yesterday and today, though, he has done no more than switch between his bed and the couch. He's not said more than a few words today and I guess I'm suffering from some sort of sensory deprivation...because I'm clueless of what to do (with myself).
I'm so busy answering questions and directing his energy, I rarely get a moment to myself....but not today! I read a book from beginning to end, finished a cross-stitch pillow that I started before Christmas, and added a maternity panel to two pairs of jeans (baby's gettin bigger!) ...and it's just 2pm.

...And away we go!
A cyber toast to our new adventure in homeschooling. *clink* No more IEP or 504 meetings, no more scrutiny from the guidance counselor, no more behavior reports...no more late night crying spells because Aaron isn't the automatron droid the teacher wants him to be.
Since Aaron entered preschool he has shown an incredible aptitude for math and reading. He loves to learn new things and he wants to know how everything works, but he has a hard time following the strict rules of classroom etiquette. (staying in his seat, not blurting out the answers he knows, keeping hands and feet to himself) Like most boys his age, his favorite question is "But, why?"
Last year, at a loss for what to do, we made a visit to the local "ADD specialist". After a 12 page questionaire and a look up his nose and in his ears, Aaron was stuck with the "classic ADD" label. I fully intended not to allow him to be medicated. An incedent at school 2 weeks later broke my heart (and a classmates nose) and I gave in.
The teachers are now asking me what to do with him. He is interested in money, so I give him a roll of pennies to leave with his teacher every Monday morning, and every time he misbehaves she is to have him put a penny in "Aaron's cost of misbehaving" jar in the front of the room. At the end of the week he gets to keep any pennies he didn't have to spend. In theory I think I hit on a decent idea, but the teacher says it's not realistic for her teaching style...so she sent all the pennies home.
I'm fed up!! Aaron deserves better and I know I can provide better. We'll most likely have to Un-School for a week or so, but I believe in my heart that he will be happier and better adjusted with old mom at the helm.
Salute!
