    Abundant Blessings - Thursday again?

    Thursday, August 14, 2008
    Thursday again?

Remember when you were a child and the days just drug on and on? You'd think they were never going to pass and you'd be at whatever day you were waiting to arrive. Then some adult would tell you that time flies as you get older? And you'd say, sure it does...time almost stands still, it certainly doesn't fly!

Well, I guess I've reached adulthood now! Time is flying by me at an incredible speed!! It hit me yesterday that my Rebecca has only two years after this one and she will be graduated from high school! When did that happen? In just over a week, my Thomas will be 13! He's changing physically...and growing into such a fine young man. But, when did he leave behind little boy-dom and become this young man? Natalie is at that in between age of nearly 9. Nine??? Almost double digits!! Certainly not a baby any more. And Mary...my baby...she's maturing so fast. She just refuses to stay little. She's so excited to learn to read that she's the first one at the table for school each morning.

Sorry for my ramble there....I'm just feeling that time flying phenomenon and it's a bit scary!

Let's see...Thomas had two more teeth extracted yesterday. This was after he had his first braces adjustment. Needless to say, he had a bit of a sore mouth last night. The extractions are done...no more teeth to come out. We also bought a mattress yesterday! Thomas has had bunk beds for a year now, courtesy of a friend. They kept the twin mattress on top for their son. We've been meaning to get one, but just hadn't....well, I found one on our local swap and shop. So, we drove to get it yesterday. The place was a HUGE old house. Oh, the kind I dream of living in. Large front porch, large rooms, large windows. Just gorgeous!! Anyhow, we bought the mattress and it's now on Natalie's bed, with her old mattress being on Thomas' top bunk.

Thankfully, I had meatballs in spaghetti sauce in the crock pot yesterday, so supper was easy. Some of us had meatball subs, the rest had spaghetti...we all had salad. Easy supper!

Today is a day at home. I believe we'll have more of these during this school year. The cost of gas along with the need for more learning time will make sure we stay home!

Honey works 1pm to 10pm tomorrow. Today and tomorrow are inventory days...when another company comes in to count everything in the store. He has to go after them tomorrow to make sure shelf tags and labels are all correct, and clean up the mess they'll leave behind. Not cool on the late night...but he's not feeling 100% today, so being able to sleep in tomorrow morning will be nice.

We've been watching the Olympics..but they sure don't take into consideration those of us who are early to bed folks in their scheduling! They are just coming on at night when we are getting ready to turn in. Bummer cause I really enjoy watching the games. Maybe we'll be able to catch something good while waiting for Honey tomorrow night...and this weekend.

The weather has been simply beautiful this week. I can't believe it's the middle of August and we don't have the a/c on! It's been off all week. I normally dread August's electric bill...between the a/c and my not wanting to be out in the heat and using the dryer...our bill is usually the highest of all year (aside from December's bill when my folks are here...but that makes sense since they are in their RV). I won't say I'm looking forward to that bill...cause who LOOKS FORWARD to a bill??? But, it will be interesting to see what it is this year. I do pray that this mild summer doesn't mean a bad winter....

My Mary is ready to cuddle. She came downstairs to cuddle with her Mama last night...and is still in our bed. I had to crawl out the end of the bed this morning. Made me a bit teary eyed....I used to get out of bed every morning like that..back when we still had a baby in bed with us. At five years old, Mary's not a baby any more. Anyhow, she's here now waiting for me to return to bed and cuddle with her. Can't turn that request down!!!

    Have a wonderful day!!!

Thursday, August 14, 2008 - Time is flying here too!!

I can so relate to your post, I don't know when my Savannah became a young lady, I just turned around and there she was!! And my boys are 6 and 7, I remember thinking I would always be tripping over toddler toys!! I love the little men I have, but wouldn't it be nice to trip over a toddler toy again now??

Thanks for the comment, and yes looking back at our road on vision therapy with Savannah and her many struggles, seeing the end so close, I see how only God could bring us through this!! Funny how he used little girl to remind us of this important lesson!
Anyway just wanted to pop over and say hi, your blog is always such a nice blessing to read; you truely are an encouragement to me!!
Blessings & hope your first week of school is excellent!!

Yep - time flies! My DD is already in 7th grade and that, to me, sounds worse than 12 years old. My DS is in 4th and already talking about girlfriends! Where did that come from? My kids really are at a good age right now, though. Their dad and I are thoroughly enjoying watching them and hanging out with them. They are so funny! But knowing that my DS is the youngest and he's no longer a baby, does put a lump in my throat sometimes.

Thanks for the award! I was pleasantly surprised and honored. ;)

You Act Like You Are 24 Years Old
You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel like an adult, and you're optimistic about life.
You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

You're still figuring out your place in the world and how you want your life to shape up.
The world is full of possibilities, and you can't wait to explore many of them.
