Today it is only two days till we go on our holidays, I can't wait! We are going to visit the Creation museum, civil war sites, Indian reservation and lots of other things. We are going to sleep in a cabin and a teepe, and we are also house swapping with some people. We have been doing a lot of packing and tyding. I will not be able to do any bloging for quite a while.
Today it's Mums birthday. We have just finished eating our tea. This-morning we had some Banoffie pie for a treat that my sister made, but it fell apart though ): it tasted ok.
Yesterday Dad hired a mini digger and leveled the side garden (It is a large strip of grass around the side of our house that is very uneven), and let us have a shot at it. We put the dirt into the trailer then dumped it round the back. This afternoon he bought a ton of stones. I am going out now to help him shovel the stones.
Yesterday and today I have been helping Dad build the deck that goes from the back of our house into the back garden. It is almost finished, the only thing left to do is to screw the rest of the timber on the top. Tomorrow we are going to the swimming pool again which is great. It is only three weeks till we go to America for our holidays, I can't wait!
Once upon a time there were two boys called Bobby and Larry.
They were on their school holidays and decided to go fishing in their uncles speedboat. It was their first time fishing and they had no idea what to do. They had most of the things ready then dumped them into the boat which was extremely leaky with two small holes. Bobby tried to patch the holes while Larry baled out all the water. Once all was ready, they pushed out into the water.
They sailed into the middle of the lake and baited their hooks with some wriggly maggots. Larry spiked his thumb twice then they waited and waited for what seemed the whole afternoon with only a few more maggots left and no fish. Suddenly little Bobby felt a sharp tug on his line. They started reeling in but lost his balance and fell in with a huge splash, over the edge of the boat. Larry through the life ring to Bobby and got him back to the boat, freezing cold and soaking wet.
They started looking for his fishing rod but it had sunk to the bottom of the lake. "Oh well" said Larry. They returned home shortly. His mum asked him where all the fish were. Bobby said that they didn't catch anything but a cold!

Today I have been doing some bird-watching out our back garden for a hour and have written down what I saw. I saw some black birds, blue-tit's, four great tit's, some robins and a house sparrow. Some of them where feeding on Mum's bird feeder and the fat balls. Some other birds that we see quite often are wood pigeons (we had some nesting in our tree-house tree last year), magpies and other types. We went on a boat trip with some friends last year on Lough-neagh which is the biggest lake Great Britain, to Coney Island and saw lots of interesting birds there. Lough-neagh is just a short walk from where we used to live. On the edge of the lake there is wildlife center called Oxford Island which we used to visit quite often.
These are some pencil that I made out of some wood from the holly tree. First I chopped it to the right length. Then I drilled a hole and removed the sawdust. Finally, I poured melted crayon wax into it and left it to harden then whittled a point.
I have also made these animals out of some oak. The turtle I made by carving the shell and pattern on the top and then gluing on the legs and head. I made the snake next and then the crocodiles.
Recently me and Caleb went swimming with David then went to his house and slept there for the night. We stayed there until the afternoon the next day. While we were there me Caleb and David started making some wooden animals. We also did a French lesson. Today we have been playing out-side in our back garden.
Yesterday I started preparing some of the beds in the polly-tunnel for planting. I have sowed some spinnach and lettuce seeds in one bed and I am going to plant pea's tomorrow. I have started reading a book thats abought missionary's, it is very good.
Lately I have been making a bird feeder out of a book that shows you how too make Bird-feeders, shelters and bird-baths, It is a very good book. I am making it for someone but I can not say who because they might look at my blog. This afternoon me and Caleb are going to go swimming.
Today it is Elijahs (my second smallest brother, (I have three brothers)) second birthday. At the moment mum is baking a cake to eat later. Dad made him a cool wooden rocking horse that me and Caleb helped sand it and helped build for one of his presents. Mum made a neat quilt and knitted a jumper with a picture of Bob the tomato on it. If you are wondering what Bob the tomato is, it is a cartoon tomato of veggietales, one of Elijahs favorite videos. The rest of us got him crayons and some animals. This afternoon I helped Dad planted some bush's at the bottom of the garden. I will post some photos some time soon, I was going to do it now but i can't do it till Mum uploads them onto the computer.
Yesterday (Saturday) we went to our friends house for Davids birthday and stayed there for dinner and had some birthday cake. We also brought our bows and we used some of Davids arrows and we made a target by drawing on a plank of chip-board wood with some yellow road paint. We also did a few projects out of a chemistry set that David got for his birthday and the girls baked some cookies. After dinner we went up the lane with the bikes. I had a good time. I will put some photos on later.

The book I've chosen is Old Yeller
Characters are: Travis and Old Yeller
Setting is: log cabin in the prairie in the middle of Texas
Problem: Travis's dad has to go on a long cattle drive that takes about a year and Travis has to look after the farm.
Plot: When Travis and old Yeller are working on the farm, a grizzy bear cut wanders into the farm and Travis's little brother tries to catch the cub. Then the mother bear comes running out of the woods that are behind their cabin towards Travis's little brother.
Solution: Old Yeller distracts the bear while Travis gets his gun and shoots the bear and Travis's little brother keeps the cub as a pet.
Today I tidied our bedroom and now I am blogging and after I am done we might go down to the Ardress house and do some writing and drawing in our nature journal that we have just started. We are going to write abought nature and differnt thing that we see.
This week I have been making a few things. Here is a electric motor I made on Wednesday, It is from Opitec. First I cut the pine strips and glued them in place, then I made the bearing block, then the motor by winding the copper wire windings around the bits of metal and did a few other things then wired it up to the battery then tried it.
Here is a spider that I made out of ready cut balsa wood.
All you have to do is sand it then assemble and glue it.
Yesterday a bit of its two front legs broke but its not really noticeable.
This is a axe I carved out of some pine wood that my friend let me take from his wood pile. I carved it with my new chisels and files mum got me and Caleb from B&Q.
Today we watched three readers digest videos that are called the great national parks of the world. They showed you all about different national parks, rainforest's and animals. Yesterday I accidentally cut my finger.
Today we drove down to Portrush to the beach which is called "white rock beach" because it has large cliffs made out of white limestone. After we had our lunch we had a walk along the beach and looked in some small caves that where hollowed out of the limestone by waves when the tide was up. There was also some large volcanic rocks from volcanoes that erupted around the time of the flood. We also looked in some small rock pools. Then we had a walk back to the car then we had a short drive to a castle that was built on the very edge of the cliff. We looked at the castle then drove back home. It was all very interesting.
Dec. 22, 2007 catching up entry and baking potatoe bread.
I think, and I am sure everyone else does too, that it is about time I did more blogging, as I have not done any for about a week or two. Today Caleb and I washed the windows. Our mum has made a blog and there is a link to it at the top of the page. By the way i forgot to do the Friday show and tell last Friday so i think I will just do it next Friday. We are going to some of our friend's house again in about a week. Last time we were there we made potato bread, it was really nice and I had a fun time baking it and watching it cook on a large griddle over the fire and saw the way people cooked in the old days. Potato bread is native to Ireland because Ireland is famous for growing potatoes and it is made mainly out of potatoes. We also made some with some stewed apples in the middle. They let us bring it home, it was very nice and we had it the next day for breakfast.
us holding some frogs we caught that day.
mashing the potatoes before putting the rest of the ingredients in.
Today I did most of my school work and saxon math and now I am blogging. At the moment Caleb and Beth are baking carrot cake and my little brother is asleep. Tomorrow we are going to our friend David's house. Have to go and put the dishes away for my sister because she is doing the baking dishes then I will be going outside.
At the moment I am holding Piglet the ginnie-pig and he is putting a million hairs all over me. I think Elijah wants a hold. Oh no, the ginnie pig has just had a accident all over my leg and now its all wet, I think I better change my trousers. By the way today I did my s&t today and I will probably do it next week too.
This is my first show and tell. I thought I'd show my flag collection of countries I've visited. If anyone would like to trade flags of their countries with me, send me a message. I will send one of either Ireland or GB.
At the moment the weather is rainy and windy and so far there has not been any snow, even though it is very cold. Last year we made a small snow fort by building some walls by packing the snow together in some large plastic square tubs to make the bricks but it did not last very long. In one one of my books it tells you how to make snow and ice sculptures and things out of snow.

by the way these are just some pictures i found on clip art.
The reason i am writing about what we did yesterday is because i forgot to blog yesterday, well, i kind off forgot to blog for most of the week so that is why i am blogging now. Yesterday we did our school work then our friends (David, Amy and Katy) came over and David Caleb and me finished the shelter we were building in our back garden. We designed the shelter from one of my books called the out door book for adventurous chaps. It also tells you how to do and make lots of other things. Today i did my work and now i am bloging and i can't think of anything else to write.
