Homeschool Kids Write Entry 6

For a change I will do one Homeschool Kids Write assignment and then an entry about my trip!
Assignment six is:  The Time Machine, the first novel written by H.G. Wells and published in 1895, tells the science fiction story of a man who travels through time.

You have found a time machine.  You may go back to any one day in your life to live over.  What day would that be and why did you chose that day? What would you do the same or different?

They day I would choose would be my 11th Birthday.  I chose my birthday because I got some REAL "I-Love-You" time with Daddy.  I would do it all the same except I would have the video we watched last twice as long because that was my favorite.   That day I woke up knowing it was my birthday and got up. Nothing exciting was happening but I wasn't expecting much because Forest and I usually get no favors on our birthdays except maybe school off if we are lucky enough to have our birthdays on a week day and Mom and Dad are in a good mood.  That day I wasn't really expecting much though.  My birthday was on a Wednesday. I didn't have to worry about that though because my birthday was just one day before a Holiday that had a week of vacation. So I had "A week of Birthday Vacation"!  Daddy was home that day and I had the joy of playing with him most of the day. That morning I stayed out of the way as much as possible so that all secret surprises that were probably being prepared would be kept secret and surprise as long as possible. I could tell after a few munutes something was happening because there was a mysterious silence that was quite loud.  Mama was making breakfast and Daddy and Forest were smuggling something in to the house.  I kept out of the way as much as possible.  Mama called me to breakfast in the dining room and I was surprised to see my favorite: Peach Smoothie and something else I can't remember.  There was also a big Sparking Candle and gift bag. In the gift bag was a Pinafore for a dress I had and a Matching bonnet. A pare of horse pants and a vest of the same material plus a black turtle neck shirt and a cream white shirt and a  blue brown silver and white striped shirt too. then in the bottom was something wrapped in tissue paper. I pulled it out. It was heavy, and flat.  I opened it up. It was a black brief case of something. I unzipped the case. It was a Laptop COMPUTER from Daddy. I needed a moment to soak this in, I had used old computers of Mama's and Daddy's before that but now I had my own computer! I looked at it, It was an IBM Thinkpad and had all my favorite programs on it. It ran Linux (daddy's favorite operating system that I must admit is pretty easy to run comparing to Mac.). Daddy helped me set it up during the day. In the evening we watched a video about the life of Jesus. It was pretty good. But my favorite part was just sitting with Daddy.  Right now I am using mom's mac because it is in a convenient spot but I use the computer Daddy gave me quite a lot.

What a charming little post! Isn't it nice to have days like that to visit in our imaginations? I particularly enjoyed your phrase "a mysterious silence that was quite loud". With writing like that, you'll entertain some profound thoughts!

I think I may steal your home school writing assignment and make a blog entry of my own with that. Visit later for details!
