Homeschool Kids Write Entry 6

For a change I will do one Homeschool Kids Write assignment and then an entry about my trip!
Assignment six is:  The Time Machine, the first novel written by H.G. Wells and published in 1895, tells the science fiction story of a man who travels through time.

You have found a time machine.  You may go back to any one day in your life to live over.  What day would that be and why did you chose that day? What would you do the same or different?

They day I would choose would be my 11th Birthday.  I chose my birthday because I got some REAL "I-Love-You" time with Daddy.  I would do it all the same except I would have the video we watched last twice as long because that was my favorite.   That day I woke up knowing it was my birthday and got up. Nothing exciting was happening but I wasn't expecting much because Forest and I usually get no favors on our birthdays except maybe school off if we are lucky enough to have our birthdays on a week day and Mom and Dad are in a good mood.  That day I wasn't really expecting much though.  My birthday was on a Wednesday. I didn't have to worry about that though because my birthday was just one day before a Holiday that had a week of vacation. So I had "A week of Birthday Vacation"!  Daddy was home that day and I had the joy of playing with him most of the day. That morning I stayed out of the way as much as possible so that all secret surprises that were probably being prepared would be kept secret and surprise as long as possible. I could tell after a few munutes something was happening because there was a mysterious silence that was quite loud.  Mama was making breakfast and Daddy and Forest were smuggling something in to the house.  I kept out of the way as much as possible.  Mama called me to breakfast in the dining room and I was surprised to see my favorite: Peach Smoothie and something else I can't remember.  There was also a big Sparking Candle and gift bag. In the gift bag was a Pinafore for a dress I had and a Matching bonnet. A pare of horse pants and a vest of the same material plus a black turtle neck shirt and a cream white shirt and a  blue brown silver and white striped shirt too. then in the bottom was something wrapped in tissue paper. I pulled it out. It was heavy, and flat.  I opened it up. It was a black brief case of something. I unzipped the case. It was a Laptop COMPUTER from Daddy. I needed a moment to soak this in, I had used old computers of Mama's and Daddy's before that but now I had my own computer! I looked at it, It was an IBM Thinkpad and had all my favorite programs on it. It ran Linux (daddy's favorite operating system that I must admit is pretty easy to run comparing to Mac.). Daddy helped me set it up during the day. In the evening we watched a video about the life of Jesus. It was pretty good. But my favorite part was just sitting with Daddy.  Right now I am using mom's mac because it is in a convenient spot but I use the computer Daddy gave me quite a lot.

Emily Rose and the Pumpkin

The next Homeschool Kids Write assignment is:

Assignment 5

Roald Dahl wrote James and the Giant Peach about a boy’s adventures in a giant peach.  Pretend that you have found a giant pumpkin.  Write a story about one of your adventures in the giant pumpkin.

I'll give it a try!

Once upon a time a time a girl named Emily rose stumbled upon a  Huge pumpkin.  The pumpkin was  bigger than she was and she decided to cut a hole big enough for her to crawl through so she could get into it and collect some seeds.   She looked at the small pocket knife she always carried around with her.  It would never do, It was too small.   So she carved a sharp spear point on the end of a stick  and bored it into the pumpkin.  It worked!!  Now she started carving out hunks with the spear point and soon she got in.  Wow, this pumpkin has a lot of seeds, she exclaimed!  She ran home and grabbed the wheelbarow. soon she had a heaping wheelbarrow full of seeds and got home with it.  She showed her dad and he got a tractor and trailor and dug all the rest out of the pumpkin.  They planted them an when Emily Rose entered the pumpkin in the fair it got 1st prize!  She was so excited that she gave all the other pumpkins to the nieghbors.  The pumpkins were forever after known as "Immaginary Pumpkins of the Emily Rose Variety".   THE END

Things I would like to learn this year

Here is Homeschool Kids Write Entry #4!

This is the assignment:
We use lists in our everyday life.  We make to do lists, grocery lists, wish lists, etc…

Make a list of 10 things that you would like to learn this year.  Your list does not have to be only academic things. For example, your list could include how to play a new sport, how to do a hobby or how to raise an animal.  You are not limited to ‘book learning'.  After writing this assignment, go back to it every now and then and see what things you can cross off your list as done.

This year I would like to learn

I. To learn to play the violin,
II.  everything in level four swimming lessons
so I can move up to 5,
III.  how to keep my room clean,
IV.  to type better,
V.  to jump rope better,
VI.  more about God,
VII.  to play the Ukulele,
VIII.  better Basketball,
IX. Do harder math,
X. Treat everybody else nicer.

Homeschool Kids Write Entry 2

Homeschool kids write Assignment number 2 is to make believe you are a guy on one of Christopher Columbus's ships and write a journal entry describing some of the journey and what you think of the new land.

So "Assignment Ahoy!"

Oct. 12, 1492

Dear Diary,

Today I gladly announce that we have discovered a new country!

Captain Columbus has discovered Indians and says he is going to make acquaintances with them, but when I don’t know.

I was certainly very thankful when we found land. I was getting very tired of the sea and was sick of the food.  But now I am not so sure about this new land.

The voyage was a most tiresome one and I got sea sick often enough.
So very clearly I should be quite eager to reach land, but alas, I am not going to step out onto that land that is infested with heathens, maybe even cannibals.

Captain Columbus is going to choose a party of men to go hunting for food tomorrow morning and I pray I am not chosen among them.

Well, the supper bell rings and although I am not eager to eat the old stale food, my stomach tells me I must.

Your Faithful Companion,

Deckhand Thomas

Homeschool Kids Write

I have decided to join "Homeschool Kids Write"!
It looks really good! You Can take a look here.

Here is my first assignment: the Pros and cons of Homeschooling.

Hmmm, Good things first!  Pros:  You can do it as fast as you like!   You can can do the whole months schoolwork in as little time as you like.

You get  the teacher's (Mom's) attention quite a lot!  You can do it outside, inside, or anywhere you want as long as Mom approves of the place! (That means probably not on the kitchen counter!)..   You can go on vacation to exotic or famouse places and it can count as school!  You could do it in your jamies!

Cons: You don't get to see friends everyday.  Mom can make you do it any time in vacation.
Mom can just add a subject any time she likes right off the top of her head - Pro for Mom con for Me!
