Sep. 29, 2006 - vision forum

I found this contest on Mrs Nehemiah's blog.  If you like Vision Forum products then visit this webpage to enter their contest: http://inashoe.blogspot.com/2006/10/win-whole-lotta-vision-forum-goodies.html

All you have to do is guess how many products will be in their next catalog.  You could win $700 worth of products from their company.  Contest ends October 13th.  I personally enjoy their catalog but can't always afford their products so this is an awesome way to be blessed by their ministry (if you win).

Lord bless,

Sep. 7, 2006 - Moms for modesty

I came across this button (bottom right on my blog) on another bloggers webpage.  Having three girls and the oldest being 10 years old makes me a definite supporter of modesty and purity.  It is so frustrating to shop for my 10 year old in this town since there is only one store to buy clothes at and all their jeans have two inch zippers.  It is also frustrating buying shirts since at that age it is popular to show your middriff.  Like Beth Moore said, you can dress modestly and still be cute (I don't remember her exact words but it was something like that).  I can't believe how many little girls I see walking around with slogans on thier behinds.  So where does one need to look to read those slogans?  You got it, at their behinds.  There is no way on this earth that my daughters will have anything written across their bottoms for the whole world to see no matter how cute others think it looks.  OK, I got that out of my system.  So I encourage all mothers of daughters to take a stand for purity.

1 Timothy 2:9... in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.

Jul. 27, 2006 - Family Devotions

Bible 2This is sad to say, especially for a Pastor's family, but we have really lacked in the area of doing devotions together as a whole family.  David and I take turns putting the girls to bed, read the Bible and pray with them but we haven't been doing it together.  So this week we have begun reading the Bible all together, as a family, and praying together, as a family.  And of course as soon as we start doing that, who comes creeping in and starts to try to tear us apart, the Ol' Enemy.  Sneaky thing he is.  But fortunately we serve a Powerful God and we have His word (the sword of truth) to battle those attacks.

1 Peter 5:8  "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."

 Lion 2

Therefore we must daily...........

........ take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-- 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (Ephesians 6:13-20)

Jul. 3, 2006 - Patriotic Drinks

Flags   Ice Water I found this recipe in my Family Fun magazine.  I haven't tried it yet but will be doing it tomorrow with all the kiddos that come to our bbq.  It is supposed to make a layered red, white, and blue drink by using liquids that vary in their amounts of sugar.  First you put tons of ice in a clear glass.  The ice helps the liquids to not mix.  Pour the liquid with the most sugar on the bottom (ex. cranberry juice which has about 30g of sugar per serving), then very slowly add a beverage that has less sugar, like wildberry gatorade fierce, which has around 15g per serving).  Make sure that you pour it onto an ice cube, not directly into the drink, to keep them from mixing.  Then for the top layer use a drink with a little or no sugar like diet 7up.  Walla!  The liquids will actually stack one on top of another  (for a little while, anyway-then they'll start to blend).

Enjoy and have a great fourth of July!
Happy HatFireworks

Jun. 15, 2006 - Summer Activites

Well due to lack of finances, moving the church, and gas prices it looks like we will not be taking a summer trip this year.  Family Road Trip But that is ok because the Lord   has provided all sorts of fun activities locally for us to do.

Kaitlyn will be attending     Dance CampGirl 3 for the month of July and Gracie will still be doing gymnastics   all summer since she is a veteran level 4 and needs to prepare for the next competition season.  Uneven Bars

The local museum is offering all sorts of fun activities like soap making, a Japanese carnival, a visit to a Bison Ranch, Dutch Oven cooking Chef , fly fishing Fish  Pioneer day, Night Sky Tour Stars , and much more.

The library is also offering shows on Wednesdays and a summer reading program.  Oh yeah and the circus is coming to town next week!  Clown

And the biggest event of the summer here is the rodeo and local fair labor day weekend.

Jun. 11, 2006 - k4t

I found an awesome sight for the kiddos and us adults as well.  It is www.k4t.com    It has some cool "dynamations" on it which are mini computer animated movies.  Subjects are: creation, life of Christ, birth of Christ, a christmas message, a presentation about good and evil, Moses and the Israelites,  and even a memorial to 9/11 victims.  Hope you enjoy it!

Jun. 9, 2006 -

Today is the girls first day home from school.  It is so nice to have them home. They had a friend spend the night last night and they have been playing all morning long.  They have actually been playing with their American Girl dolls.  It is nice to see 10 and 11 year olds still play with dolls.  I think girls that age are growing up way too fast!  It is frustrating shopping for girls clothes these days.  All you find is pants with a one to two inch zipper and shirts that don't cover their stomache.  What is society doing to our daughters?!  I want my girls to stay little girls as long as possible and will always encourage them to play with dolls.  Striving to raise girls of purity for the Lord, <>< Antoinette

Jun. 7, 2006 - school's out

School's Out Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Tomorrow is the last day of school!  I can't wait to not have to get up in the morning and rush out the door with no time to focus   on the Lord.  Now I need to really get serious about homeschooling.  I still have no idea what curriculum I am going to use but I am leaning towards unit studies.

My girls love to read so it will definatley need to be literature based.

 Book Club

But the most important aspect of the curriculum is that the Bible is the number one focus.  Bible 2That the day begins in God's word and the majority of the studies are based upon the Lord and living our lives for Him.  I am looking into Heart of Wisdom but it is for 4th grade up and I will be homeschooling a 2nd grader as well as my 5th grader.  It would be great to hear about your experiences with unit studies!  <>< Antoinette

Jun. 5, 2006 - Happy Birthday Gracie!

Today my Gracie turned 7 years old.  It is so hard to believe she entered the world at a whopping 9lbs 12 oz 7 years ago.  She had a rough beginning with jaundice and an infection of the umbilical cord and had to stay in nicu.  I never will forget how hard it was to go home without her.  But a couple days later she was able to join her mommy and daddy and big sister Kaitlyn at home.  Now she is 7 and full of life.  She is very energetic, athletic, artistic, lover of animals, funny as can be and sometimes annoying as can be, but most of all she is our gift from Our Creator.

Happy Birthday

Jun. 2, 2006 - I did it!

I did it!  I finally cut out my cable.   I know that sounds silly to some but it is a huge step for me.  The Lord has been prompting me to do it for a long time and I have been fighting it.  I grew up in a family that had a tv in almost every room which is why I am so addicted. I have really tried to watch clean programs but they are hard to find.  We have ordered Sky Angel so we will still have tv but what we watch won't be unpleasing to the Lord anymore.

The cable burden has been lifted!  PTL!

May. 27, 2006 - worship

Psalm 95:1-3a “Oh come let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God…”

Don't you just love worshipping the Lord?  I have been diligently trying to praise Him all day long by playing worship music around the house.  It is amazing how much calmer I am when I am praising the Lord.

Here is a little something I found about worship at Calvary Chapel New Brunswicks webpage:

When we sing praises to the Lord, we exalt our Creator and give Him glory showing our love for Him vertically.

When we sing praises to the Lord in fellowship with the body of Christ, we exalt our Creator and give Him glory showing our love for one another horizontally.

While it’s true that worship softens the heart and prepares one to receive the word of God, it is far more substantial and important to realize that worship is what God created us to do.

My favorite worship bands are:

Casting Crowns

Jeremy Camp

Mercy Me

Caedmon's Call

Chris Tomlin

Natalie Grant

DC Talk

Kutless

Delerious

Seven Places

Darrell Evans

100 Portraits

Waterdeep

and much more.........................................

Worshipping Him in song and praise!

May. 23, 2006 - Sky Angel

God has heavily laid it on my heart to cut our cable out.  We are paying $50 a month to watch only about five channels.  It is ridiculous.  American Idol has it's finale this week (go Taylor!) and after that I am going to cancel cable.  There is soooo much junk on tv these days.  Meanwhile I have been looking into getting Sky Angel so I was wondering if anyone has it and if so have you enjoyed it?  It seems that each year they get a better variety of channels. I would definately love to hear from anyone who has used Sky Angel and your experiences, negative or positive.

May. 20, 2006 -

Yea!  It has been raining here this weekend.  Last night we went to a christian concert at Central Washington University and worshipped the Lord in the rain.  It was awesome to just raise your hands to the Lord and worship Him as the rain fell on us.  The temperature was perfect after all the hot weather we have been having. Spring is back!

Raining Hearts

Speaking of worship, our worship leader and his wife (who is one of our sunday school teachers) will be leaving our church in approximately three weeks.  Please pray that the Lord will provide another worship leader preferably before they leave.  We desire to have someone that will lead the congregation in true worship, one that would bring us back to the heart of worship.

May. 17, 2006 - hot, hot, hot!

It has been really hot this week.  In the 90s and it is only May.  I hope this isn't a sign of how hot summer will be.

I saw a friend at the library today and her little three year old broke her femur bone falling off a swing.  The poor thing is in a huge cast and has to stay in a somewhat laying down position.   The cast is on for 5 weeks and then when they take it off she is still not allowed to walk on it for a few more weeks.  Please pray for quick and perfect healing of her little leg. Her name is McKenna.

May. 10, 2006 - How do I know?

This question may sound dumb to some but this will be my first year homeschooling.  I will be homeschooling a daughter in 5th grade and another in 2nd grade.  So my question is ............how do I know what subject each child is supposed to be studying and what in each subject are they supposed to be learning?  Are there any webpages that will tell me?

Thanks for your help,

May. 8, 2006 - Last night was freaky

I have been attacked tons lately since this whole church move.  Last night was the scariest.  I was sleeping great until Satan woke me up and started filling my mind with thoughts telling me that everything that is happening is my fault and I have basically ruined everyones lives around me and I should just stab myself and free everyone from me.  It was a really strange feeling, one I have never experienced before.   It was scary but fortunately the Lord fought the battle for me and caused me to get on my face and pray and read His word and listen to His voice of truth (see previous post).

Praising Jesus for His awesome power and protection!

May. 7, 2006 - I am tired of Satan and his lies!

When Satan and his lying demons get to me I am always comforted by this song by Casting Crowns:

THE VOICE OF TRUTH

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand

But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

Chorus:
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

BBQ My dh got a new bbq and just had to show it off so we invited about 24 people (including kids) from church over to our house last night for the kickoff of the bbq season.  We ate tons, played games and laughed tons (except when Kaitlyn got hit in the face by a rubber ball which was kicked so hard it knocked her to the ground)  She is my drama queen when it comes to injuries.  A simple paper cut could easily result in blood curdling screams as if her finger was cut completely off.  Poor thing, she has no pain tolerance whatsoever.  Anyhow, all in all it was an awesome time!  Everyone left fat and happy!

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!  ~Psalm 133:1~
